lease get off your high horse pal, For the record, there were one or two High end German Sports car owners that had not read the brief and started revving their engines, they were asked not to do it and stopped (although they did leave and then thought it would be fun to rev the engines again) rolleyes . If a Zonda or Egg had done the same thing many of us would also have disapproved, but im sure the spotter kids would have enjoyed it.

Snobbery my friggin arse. The event is was Advertised as a "Supercar Event cars and coffee". IF you genuinely can not appreciate that, then there is no hope and I do hope the meets become secret.
Ok mate. If supercars only then next time bin all the Astons (not a supercar in strict definitive terms), wave goodbye to the TVR's, rule out any non-GT and above Porsche, right off anything with more than 3 seats. If it became strict supercars/hypercars only you'd lose a lot of variety and I imagine your racing replica Viper might find itself on the periphery of the welcome list (people's opinions on what a supercar is differ). Oh and your mate in the Challenger or Camaro (can't remember what it was) would also find his invitation missing.

If you want a private supercar circle jerk then all you need to do is set up a date on a whatsapp group. In my view most people like taking their cars to these things because it gives access to people who wouldn't usually be able to see them. In that respect they are deriving pleasure from sharing their pride and joy with others. When hosting an event in a public car park you frankly have no control or even right to control who turns up in what. It's also not like space was particularly limited - plenty of room was available.

Your attitude is frankly a bit crap. I understand and agree that you don't want modified corsa's rocking up on mass but people like to see variety. I didn't see many cars at all that weren't appropriate for the audience.

I also heard the white Murcielago give a nice big rev on arrival. Noone seemed to mind - the opposite in fact.

(nice Viper btw)

It wouldn't matter whether it was a BMW or a Ferrari. A tw@t is a tw@t, regardless of the vehicle. Snobbery? Where? I didn't see any of that, just a nice array of people, young and old, owners and otherwise (including general lake visitors) enjoying a wander around some nice cars.
Ironically the only snobbery I have seen was by a few people on this thread!

If you want a proper supercar only event I completely understand but you can't then host it in a public car park and expect to control what turns up!

Come on now, no one wants these meets to become a secret because, quite frankly, I'm sure you enjoy a slight ego massage when Joe Bloggs drools on your Viper.

Although people were asked not to rev engines, on the whole people were very well behaved (bar a couple of instances) - you will always get people who do not abide by the exact letter of the law particularly given that a) it was a car park that the public can access, b) revving an engine is not illegal and c) it was a publically advertised event.

No one got hurt, everyone had a great time, a couple of engines were revved - so what, it happens at every red stop light in the country every day.

A very good event and simple to get in and out.

A thumps up for the organiser and loved my coffee and bacon roll in the coffe shop overlooking the lake

No event is perfect, I used to run big meets and trying to stop the odd tit doing a burnout was impossible, for every person that disapproved there would be one that approved! So I think it's wrong to blame it on BMW drivers as I'm sure we've all been to events where a supercar has displayed similar antics.

The worst event that I have been to where this was almost encouraged was when wheelsday used to be held at aldershot. The driving standards were appalling for a large number of participants. And not forgetting the odd tit at a Sunday service ruining it for all, PH nearly lost Mercedes-Benz world as a venue because of that.

I think it would be a shame if the event went underground (despite my earlier posts) I just think it was advertised badly for non exhibitors which it appeared I was not alone in sharing that opinion. Hopefully they can continue to hold events despite a minortiy trying their best to ruin it and now that it is clear we can indeed use the other half of the car park without causing offence.

i was stood at the entrance with my 2 kids as everyone was leaving. One couple in their 60s stopped as they drove in to the entrance, wound down their window and asked what has going on so i told them. i thought they were going to complain but they parked up and came over for a chat - more than happy to see the cars.

Another gent who was 60-ish had come to walk his dog with his wife. His wife ended up walking the dog and he stood talking to me - he was genuinely pleased to see the cars. His only concern was the speed that many of the cars left at, especially considering the conditions yesterday.

The best thing about this event was Yellow Jacks posts - immensely entertaining thank you!thumbup

Perhaps the organisers should ask YJ to write the next event alert, could save a lot of sensitive souls becoming offended as well as preventing Doris complaining about Fido's outdoor activities becoming restricted.

For me PH is about everyone who has an interest in petrol (not diesel wink) we might not like some of personal mods but we all started somewhere lowly (probably) eekrolleyes
