A reminder to anyone thinking of just turning up – you do need to sign up to the event so that you're sent the windscreen print out on Friday. Without this, you might not get passed the security gate at the entrance.

There's plenty of space, so don't worry about taking up a spot even if you're just calling in for an hour!
Cheers Ben, just didn't want to take up a space from someone who wanted to be there for the full day. Will sign up now.

Just got my E-mail through.

Looks fairly standard.

Briefly

9am track time = sign on at 7:30 briefing at 8:20
9.35 track time = sign on at 8, briefing at 8:20
10:10 track time = sign on at 8:50, briefing at 9:30
10:45 track time = sign on at 9:25, briefing at 10:05,
11:20 track time = sign on at 10, briefing time at 11:15
11:55 track time = sign on at 10:35, briefing time at 11:15

LUNCH BREAK

13:35 track time = sign on at 11:30, briefing at 12:30
14:10 track time = sign on at 12:50, briefing at 13:05
14:45 track time = sign on at 13:25, briefing at 14:05,
15:20 track time = sign on at 14:00, briefing at 14:40

however it should be noted that you can attend earlier briefing and sign on if you want.

see you guys on track

(i am going to be leaving big clouds of black smoke in the 10:10 session) smile

I believe Pistonheads were looking into getting some disoed prices for insurance. I've not looked into it yet but it makes sense to get some.
Has anyone found any cheap insurance yet ?. I've just been quoted £305 !

I am hopefully doing 2 track sessions, do I need to attend both briefings or will just the first one suffice?

What's the crack with insurance? I've just read the terms and conditions on the Silverstone website and this is what I have found:

"The participant shall reimburse Silverstone the cost to Silverstone for the repair of damage to the property of Silverstone including the circuit or any part of the property (which for avoidance of doubt includes the catch fencing, safety barriers and safety vehicles) caused by the participant, servants or agents or any person in his/her party.

It is a condition of your participation in the Activity, that in the event of accident, loss or damage occurring during such Activity you will not pursue any claim for damages against any other participant (save in respect of injury or death)."

So does that mean that everyone is on the track at their own risk, and the only thing that you will have to pay for if you stack it is damage to the circuit?
On that note, does anyone know what happened to the guy who had the big crash in his 996 at this last year, or maybe it was 2014?

Is it going to be possible to buy someone's track time on the day? Unsure if I will be able to go on track because I may have son (2 year old) with me, and maybe poor weather so I don't want to pay in advance.

Also is it possible to rent helmets there or BYO?

Helmets are available to hire on the day.

Recommended you take your own.

IMO either commit or don't. :-)

Morning all,

We've now updated the original article to reflect the fact that we (well, Ben!) has managed to arrange some insurance for those of you venturing out on track.

If you can't be bothered to re-read the article, I've handily repeated what it said below. You're welcome!

"We’ve lined up some significant discounts on insurance for you all with Moris, who’re a well-known track day insurance provider. This is outside of their normal remit so everyone will have to complete a form on their website and will be sent an individual quote, but typically they can discount their standard ‘day rates’ from 30-70% depending on the car and value.

Complete this form here and Moris will get back to you with a quote sharpish. Ignore the fact that the form says it’s for cars over £30K; this is the form that ALL members must use irrelevant of vehicle value.

After setting the date and venue for the event, choose ‘PistonHeads/Haymarket’ from the organiser drop down. Once completed, you’ll be sent a PDF quote which includes the policy documentation, but to validate it you must pay for it by following the online link that’ll be provided in the email.

Let us know how you get on, as if this works well for you all then we’ll look to set something up more permanent in the future."
