Cheers all smile. Main reason for buying the car was down to the sound . Whilst other sports cars are getting quieter its great to see British manufacturers still making cars with a bit of a bark wink
Hearing you heel and toe today and the sound it was making has completely changed my perspective of the evora, never been a fan until today, top driving!
Yes Dave top heel and toeing?
Badum tish. What's the IPS box like?
LOL wish I could take claim for some fancy footwork, but alas it's a simple pull of a paddle behind the steering wheel wink

Impressed with the IPS or Auto as they call it now. The old system was really slow from pull of paddle to change of gear, but this one is now spot on. Get down to Lotus Silverstone and test drive one

Great day and thanks again to PH for organising this!
Had a good time on track in the 9.35 apart from completely cooking the brakes! And nearly shaking the car to death! ?? Sorry if i got in anyones way (silver 1series 123d coupe) tried my best to get out of the way of those in faster machinery!

Would have been better if my brakes didnt overheat and didnt have to keep taking slow part laps to cool them off. Seems i wasnt the only one though! Glad i cought up with the driver of the 120d hatch after the session , i was wondering how you were keeping pace, turns out my suspicions werr right about a remap! ???? also shout to one of the 197 blue clios, spent most of my session up behind you, cars were pretty evenly matched!

All in all grat day, good driving by all (imo in my session) and top cars for me in the day were the mint white Gt2 Club Sport (good to chat to you whoever you were) the Hakosuka GT-R and the 22B
I think that was me in the Clio. Do remember a 1 series behind me, and I have to say yours is pretty darn quick too. Good fun comparing on track and just goes to show how close modern hatches are. Hope to catch up at another event wink
I was in the black 1 series, I might have been behind you (or the other blue 197 in that session) from the start. It is nice to see how the cars stack up on the track and compare in the twisties and straights.

Yeh it was good fun! Just a shame my brakes were cooked so quickly! If i do another phss at silverstone ill have to get the brake issue sorted and looking at hopefully getting a remap to 240/250 with a shed load more torque too!
Be good to catch up at another event, was yours the clio with a private plate? If so i was the silver one series behind

Believe you're talking about the S2000 that lost it! An impressive spin indeed, no doubt some poo came out. rofl

Great morning/afternoon as always, thanks PH.

PS No one actually recorded my attendance but I have photos to prove I was there wobble

First time I've come along to one of these and definitely will come again. Hopefully will get some track time too!

Personal favourite was this BM which looked immense, think I remember reading a thread on it in the readers section at one point?!
Thanks. We arrived with no track time booked but jumped on the 13:35 inter session. By that time mostly every PH'er had gone home.

How did everyone find the grip ?

I was trying out some cheap track tyres - Nankang NSR2 and wasn't overly impressed.
I struggled a bit but I was on road tyres rather than the 888's that I've been using for previous track days. Annoyingly I was wondering if the NS2R's would be a good replacement but that doesn't sound promising, what pressures were you running?
If you can get them in the softer 120 they are probably much better I went for 195/55/15 which are only available in 180.

I haven't used the car (V6 MR2) much and last time was on 888 but in March when it was (I'm told) too cold for them, I've got some slicks for full track days should I find the time.

I was running 28F 32R and the wear was pretty even - they seem similar to the Hankook RS2 I run on my supercharged MX5 - ie road tyre grip but don't melt on track.

Overall, it was a superb day!

The standard of the driving as a whole was OK and pretty good all things considered. The fact is people will get hot headed in what essentially is a 30 minute session with quite a large no. of cars on it.

Many thanks for the PH crew organsing this.

Good to see you, nice to know the car was in safe hands previously.

Had fun in the 9:00 session, bit of to-ing and fro-ing with people backing off/cooling down every now and again (myself included) but all manageable.

Only issue was rear brakes.. the 'heat proof' paint proving not very..
Apologies if I was to blame in that! I was in a blue M3 smile. Like yourself, my rear brakes were toast when I came out! I saw tons of blue smoke coming from the back of the car when I came off the track and into the paddock. I initially assumed the worst, until I saw my brakes throwing out alot of smoke from the rear! Yes, they were hot!

On the whole, the session was not too bad.

I was catching a 182 in the 11.20 session until my brakes cried enough. It was epic fun though. I had Goodyear eagle F1's on the front and Toyo T1R's on the back, well balanced was not really the word for it!laugh I've never driven a FWD car so willing to go sideways!

Edited by AdamIndy on Sunday 23 October 18:55
On my 172 I had exactly the same issues, with T1Rs on the rear! On a wet day at Cadwell, despite having Contis up front with 2mm, the rear just would not stop coming out! It was still pretty quick mind you in the bends!

Thanks PH and Silverstone for a great SS. Probably the most varied and most expensive car park I have seen, some really nice cars there and on track too. F-Type sounded good but just pipped in the sound stakes by the V8 Vantage I think, superb.

Big thanks to Ben for the passenger ride in his Clio. Wasn't going to take him up on his offer as I had dismissed his "shopping trolley" in my head and was waiting for a hot lap in the Caterham. That would have been a mistake, his Clio was a real eye opener helped by some decent mods but nonetheless it surprised me the way it hung on in the corners, gave it no mercy too, respect! I can still smell the hot brakes/tyres. thumbup

Thanks to the Caterham crew too, got a hot lap in the 620s, got a couple of very quick laps in and nothing came passed and plenty of much more expensive machinery was humbled in the process clap

The brakes as they are seem to be absolutely terrible on track so that's where the next money will be spent.

I can highly recommend CarboTech XP8

My MR2 has completely standard brakes except for these pads and I couldn't understand why everyone was braking so early.

They bite well from cold, I use them on the road although they can squeal occasionally, they didn't even hint at fading.

Far better than Red / Yellowstuff

Great pics Ash, you got a couple of me (red 997 GT3) which I am grateful for. Didn't get any myself as the missus wanted to get back straight after.

It just adds to the entertainment factor and keeps one guessing. Is it going hold on through here at 80mph or end up going backwards into the gravel in a cloud of tyre smoke?laugh

Just watching back the footage from my 11:55 session now. Who was in the white MR2? You were dropping something allover the track, pretty sure it was only coolant... but thought I better let you know in case you haven't been told!
I think he was a friend of doctor fox (if it was the mark 1 MR2). I'll PM doctor fox and let him know to pass the message on.
I noticed the fluids very near the end. Followed through Brooklands very tippy toe just in case it was slippery.

Did you get anything good on your footage of my yellow Ginetta? Was in open space most of the time passed a few and was passed by 3 or 4.

Great event well run , even nicer when the sun came out !!! Fun on track too with everybody being well behaved (11.20 session)

Tux (green Noble)
To echo what Tux said - well done to everyone on the 11:20 session, no red flags & the driving was better than I've seen on these events previously. What happened to everyone at the end though? I was worried that I'd missed the chequered flag, the track was empty.
Green Noble didn't half shift, 'where did that come from' went through my mind a few times as he flew past!!! (Silver Elise)
Sorry it was the cool air and new Trofeo R tyres , lots of grip and she felt quick on low boost !!!

Thanks Graham for the cool photo's !!
Those 2 Nobles were awesome!

The brakes on my Black Clio 182 were cooked, as where the brakes on the white Toyota GT86. We headed into the pits and everyone followed us in!

Have to agree the folks in the 11.20 session were awesome. I had to keep an eye out for the Nobles and Caterham's as they has so much on me in a straight line. Great session!
I came in as I was running very low on fuel, (white Gtr)as mentioned tho some good driving!
I really enjoyed it (11.20 session) and the driving standard was excellent in that slot. I was in the red GT3 with my other half and had a great time. Some quick cars out there. I think that older silver Fiesta ST was mega, don't know whats been done to it, but it was a surprise to me.

It must be an MR2 thing, someone told me my MK2 MR2 had been dripping it seemed the expansion tank had been blowing out the "excess" despite the gauge remaining in the middle.

There was no excess water - it overheated on the way home

Got a few shots but not all too clear, will try and edit it all into a useable video at some point. Was good fun following you, catching up in some corners only for you to leave me for dead on the straights! Great noise too.

Driving standards on the 11:20 were really good. Except perhaps for the red Porsche 911 GT3 who wasn't moving over in a hurry.
I actually thought the red GT3 was well driven, waiting until the straights to overtake, unlike a couple of others.
Well glad the hear that (the Red GT3). I thought pretty much everyone drove well tbh, I only got held up once or twice tops and I was aware of the Z4, but heyho was all good fun.

Really enjoyed my first track session. I was in a white Lotus Elise on the 9:35 session, apologies if my driving wasn't quite up to scratch in some places, absolutely loved the car though, it was so planted and did everything I asked of it.
Any driving tips or feedback much appreciated from anybody on our session!
