RE: Prodrive Sunday Service 19/02
Discussion
Brilliant SS so thanks to PH & Prodrive for arranging this one. Lots of knowledgeable people to talk too & was very interesting to find out what other things Prodrive are into.
Looking at the photos already posted up seems I missed a fair amount from outside, always find it difficult to balance seeing forum cars vs spending time inside the facilities.

The leaving sedately may be a larger problem to solve than people are thinking.
Reading the posts I thought it was just a few people but since I'm the bloody tedious sort, on my tea break I watched the leaving vid linked and counted up.
We had 27 cars leaving "appropriately" and 92 giving it some. So given 250 attending cars thats at least 37% of attendees driving "inappropriately" or if the numbers are used as a guide and multiplied up thats 193 of the 250 cars being driven "inappropriately" or 77%
All cars in the vid looked to be breaking the 15mph limit if that applied to the whole estate?
Dont see this as me complaining I enjoy hearing cars give it some as much as anyone I'm just providing numbers.
Only 3 in the vid that made me were the fishtailing Aston, and mentioned launching on the wrong side Porsche and last Merc overtaking someone.

That's what I was surprised about, albeit I probably shouldn't have joined in, I got my oil warm first, it wasn't unsafe, and I didn't attempt anything like launch control.
It was a good start to the PHSS calendar, and I look forward to attempting to attend all (minus LeMans).
I agree, given it was at the backend of an industrial estate I joined in too, there was a couple of people that took it a bit too far (the Aston) but for the most part I don't see too much of a problem in an area like thatIt was a good start to the PHSS calendar, and I look forward to attempting to attend all (minus LeMans).

It's not a problem until it is. There only needs to be one misjudgement or mishap and we're all in the news, and for all the wrong reasons. There are plenty of people, with snidey motivations and agenda who'd love PHers to slip up.If no one were filming, it'd be less of an issue of course, but that's not really the point.
I did wonder, idly, as I got onto the M40 whether - as I'd never bothered to look, because for me it was not going to be an issue anyway - my engine was anywhere near warm enough to sensibly give it a good thrash when I'd left the car park.

The same could be said about the road away from MBW...Posting to say a big thanks to the PH and prodrive staff! I've been fortunate enough to go to quite a few PHSS's over the years but this was hands down the best one I've ever been to! Simply brilliant, cheers guys!
(and no, I didn't mind a short queue for the privilege of being allowed in to Prodrive's house).

Come on all, it's only a problem until a Mustang comes to a Sunday Service...
I am, of course, joking. I also wondered about people warming their engines through before hoofing it away, driving a rotary this is even more important...
All that clobber aside, I had a great day, as did the guys who came with me - thanks PH and Prodrive for giving up their time and putting on another great event! Here's to the rest of the 2017 Sunday Serviceses!

Thank you Pistonheads for the great day, always wanted to see the Prodrive facilities so dream come true!
Mixed feelings on the power-exits, some were OK some were a bit too much, but as someone already mentioned before, this was still far from the Acecafe phenomenons. However, as the social media seems to love jumping on these things, might be an idea to look into the legality of these videos on copyright matters.
Bring on the next one!
Cheers!

Indeed. A single incident could see PH paraded in the headlines as all that is wrong with car culture. dantournay said:
Anyway enough of that, loved this pair and wondered if it was just coincidence they were parked up next to each other.
No coincidence! I own the VX and it was having a ride in Dan's Elise that made me get one (VX was half the price for the same performance). Was another great SS, cant wait for more throughout the year!

PH expressly asked people not to attempt the jump to light speed on exiting their event. Yet it seems people can't help themselves. I watched several cars sat idling clearly warming up for a full bore standing start. Who is it impressing? Those with their phones switched to video standing around? All a bit try hard and desperate.

Thanks to all for putting this one on, really enjoyed it!
"please do not get carried away and be sensible when arriving and leaving! Failure to do so could severely damage our chances of doing future Sunday Services, and nobody wants that"
Let's hope we're allowed back next year!...
