Joust: Basically .Mark and I will arrange a day very much like last year's event.

Prior to the day I'll do my usual recce drive and suss out a route for those who would like to join me.

The "Basingstoke (and elsewhere) PHers" usually start out from the Basingstoke Leisure Centre and then drive off to Hayling Island. I will provide a web page with full maps and directions slightly nearer the time - which will include how to get to the start point (and its GPS coordinates now I have one!).

I try to take in some scenic roads, with a few fun straights for a bit of a blast, that can (very largely) be enjoyed at legal speeds. So it can take up to a couple of hours to get down there.

Last year I did a different route back which whatever and I enjoyed...

I will take my GPS toy along when I recce and capture some waypoints for those who are REALLY concerned about getting lost!

At Hayling Island there is a large amount of "green" Car parking available which is fairly level. We had two Ultimas with us who had no problems with grounding - so your Noble should be fine. The parking costs three quid or something which you need with you in coins.

Last Year we arranged that all those inclined would bring a picnic. Very civilised some people were too - everyone really got into the swing of things with portable tables, chairs, champers and beer (for the non-drivers!), picnic baskets the lot. Quite a hoot!

Then there was a golf tournament (which is still being talked about to this day.... ) on the pitch and putt with PH prizes for the winners.

.Mark is seeing if other entertainments can be arranged too this year, I believe.

As well as all our self-made fun there is a beachside pub nearby called "The Inn On The Beach" that allows those inclined to sit and look at the sea whilst downing cold beers.

Not far away (if one gets bored) there is "all the fun of the seaside") with amusements and so on...

Last year it was a TOP day out with a few hilarious incidents (the Nova Boyz popping in to gawp) and a visit from a local F360 Spyder owner who roared up in his rather fine steed to find out why so many sports and supercars had found their way to one spot.

I REALLY enjoyed last year, particularly as a really find range of marques was represented...not all Tivs by any means.

So. I hope I've sold you on the idea. If the weather's nice then its a fantastic day out...if the weather's horrid then a smaller number will no doubt go anyway and sit in the pub talking shite about cars....

Top run down Don, sounds about spot on.
'Extra' events include mucking about on the sandbank which show be at it's fullest mid to late afternoon.

RiverGirrl you would be welcome in/on any vehicle, if I remeber correctly, last year UltimaPaul made his wife bring the VW Golf with the kids in so he could come along in the Ultima respect Paul, I for one, would never have got away with that!

I know this clashes with Somerset Saunter Won and possibly Mania, but as Don said it is open to more than just the TVR gang and I for one am really looking forward to it.
At one point lat year we had something like 35 cars there (rough calculation at 1.2 million pounds worth) would love to match that this year.

Brilliant!

I'll have a route sorted in the next couple of weeks and post it up. Last year (in the interests of getting there on time) we had some dual carriageway travel...hoping to avoid that this year...

I now need to get off my arse and drive the route. Perhaps this Saturday. I thought we'd do the same thing with arriving at one pub, stopping for a bit and then driving on to the seaside? We used the "Ship" last time I believe - but that had the annoying trick of not opening at a very friendly time on the Sunday so perhaps we should select a different start point...?

The convoy drive down from Basingstoke will, no doubt, start in the same place as usual - or I may use my office's car park again - depending on how busy we can expect the B'stoke leisure centre to be...

I will investigate this weekend coming and then post up my usual maps, directions, timetables and similar stuff.

Do you have any other suggestions re: first pub? It was a nice feature of last year's meet to have a short rumble all-together before seaside shenanigans start...

Well there is a pub further down the island with a big car park with a field extension on it, I could ask if they mind us meeting there before leaving (might have to buy a few drinks to keep the landlord happy though as this is not a public carpark).
The thing is, it's only about a mile and a half from the beach. Although that wouldn't be too bad if you've just done a long ride.
What say you?

Its worth asking the man. And if thirty-plus cars turn up that's sixty-plus people and its summer. They'll be thirsty. It'd be worth the man's time to open up specially!

Actually I was thinking of someplace further north in the country maybe? Depends on timings too...as to get there just as it opens, stop for half hour/hour to gather latecomers, then on to the Beach...means a late arrival at the Beach for lunch. Still that might be OK.

Don,
Let me know when you have finalised the route, I'll see if I can think of any pubs that might accomodate us on the mainland.

I will be creating a little web-site with all the details on next week I hope - so you'll be able to find out all about startpoints, times, the entertainment and so on.

It'll be nice to see you on the day. Lets hope for a sunny one!

Well folks, this morning the postman came struggling up the drive with a huge parcel, positively brimming with goodies from the Piemiester himself as prizes for the 2nd Hayling Pitch & Putt Open.
I will refrain from detailing the list right now but suffice to say there is a fair few quid's worth up for grabs.

Get signed up, we're up for a good one!
