Mark, have you got any pics of the XKSS or the D type without it's bonnet up?

Thanks. I wanted to know if their genuine or replicas (I think they must be replicas, but was interested to know for sure)

Phew. Thank God for that. I'd have been very upset if it was genuine and I'd missed it. I love Jags - got a cabinet full of scale models, including an XKSS and a D type. Although my D type is the long nosed type with a bolted on back wing. I doubt the one as AF was genuine either, there were only six of the short nosed shape made.

Even though replicas, they are very nice. There is a genunine SS that goes sometimes and it attracts a lot of attention. Dave

Really? Do you mean an SS as in pre-Jaguar name?

I really must try and get along there. Is it held on a particular day during the month? I'll put it in my diary and take the afternoon off work if necessary

2nd tuesday of the month, took us about 45 mins to get there on Tuesday, so you wouldn't need to get the afternoon off, will probably go not to the June one

ETA we're going to LM instead

Mrs T, yes as far as I know it is completely original. The event is very large and many people have more than one car so you can never be very certain of what may be there. For example, another local has a 190(4?) double decker bus but turned up this week in a vintage Vauxhall (ofetn referred to as an E type, I think).

It's very worth going to but well worth getting there early. Although very good, the May event was a little quiter than I had expected but the weather was a bit unpredictable. Apart from the cars, I think the atmosphere is great, very relaxed. Dave

I can't make the June one as we're in Le Mans with Matt and Di, but I'll make a note in my diary (and ask Matt to remind me) and try to get along to the July one. I love classic cars, even the slow ones that used to be everyday cars but you don't see around anymore. They're so much more interesting than all the modern stuff (in my opinion)

Mrs T, I know what you mean. It sometimes surprises me which cars attract the most attention at meetings like this. Imagine one night last year (or perhaps 2005) when there were 6 Frazer Nases lined up next to each other. Amazing.

Yes he's a real enthusiast for De Tomaso Panthera (especialiy GT), too much so

He used to be in our club, first time I meet him I upset him by introducing him to a potential (now actual) member and saying that you did not need to have a Supercar to be in the club

He also did rides but once asked for only passengers that were "interested" in the car - they were interested enough for a ride in the car not THAT amount of interest in it, or him

Another time he turned up at the NEC where we had a stand and asked for free tickets for him and his friend even tho' his car was displaid on the De Tomaso stand and not ours and to cap it all he sat on the same table as us at that night's show awards (not with the De Tomaso club ?) and eat most of the sandwiches - as I told him then, he's got a brass neck and rhino skin

We saw him at April's meet but he was very busy talking to someone so I didn't stop to say hello - he would have just said hello to me and left it at that
