All was going fairly well until the rain on sunday. My tent blew to pieces and everything got totally waterlogged. My car window got stuck down so everything in my car got soaked. I was soaked right through to my underpants. Decided to drive back at 1am monday morning - the car overheated and boiled all its coolant so i had to top it up with 4 cans of fosters as that was all i had to get it to a tesco 24 with was closed - luckily i found their tap though. It continued to rain all night i could barely see out of the window, car was all over the place tramlining and aquaplaning everything. Still driving at 5am when it dried up a bit and got light so wound it up to a good bit of speed when my windscreen wiper got torn off - oh yea and then i went through a gatso too fast - brilliant (couldnt see the bastard)
So eventually got home at 6am with hyperthermia (from driving home is soaking wet clothes with the window stuck down)
Still it was quite good to be there, we brought the worlds supply of lager and monster much which was good enough for me Did a few sneaky dounuts on the grass when i first turned up which was fun. Great to meet some new people too
I need a shoutout to garlick - what a legend, when the marshals pulled the plug on the saturday night music at midnight - he plugged it back in and after that invited everyone back to where he was camping for some more loud beats on his car stereo!
Sounds like quite a journey! Fosters in the coolant, love it.So eventually got home at 6am with hyperthermia (from driving home is soaking wet clothes with the window stuck down)

I was only there for the day racing in the BMW Kumho, but spoke to quite a few PH'ers in the pits who spotted the "Pistonheads Speed Matters" stickers on the car
Thats was a great race - had a good view from the Esses Out post... one of the few posts on circuit where your only a few feet from the cars... you looked to be really working in there... keeping the oversteer incheck as you slow from Revitt for the right hander leading to Bombhole JonRB said:
You know, it's only sitting here in the warm and dry, showered, glass of wine beside me, and reminiscing on the weekend here on PH that I'm starting to think that it was a good weekend.
At the time, in the cold, wind and rain, I had distinctly different feelings.
Seconded. At the time, in the cold, wind and rain, I had distinctly different feelings.
As Mrs. RB said to me "it's all part of the camping experience" - and how right she was

Loads of stuff that, added to his other tales of TVR derring-do will go down in PH folklore
Fosters ... just fricking class The gatso wasn't the one immediately after the 50mph road works sign before Ollerton was it tom? cos that might have got me too, though i was actually slowing down and was doing about 60 when I saw it ... slammed the anchors on but I bet it gets me for about 56
Annoying thing is, I'd spent most of the time with cruise control at 73mph and slowing down to 60 for the cameras, as I never know for certain whether the A1 is a 60 or a 70!
Still... 5 hours is unbelievable ... I did near as dammit the same trip/route in 2hr 45, and as I said, I was taking it easy ... must have been a horrible journey

Fosters ... just fricking class tomtvr - seriously, I'd get your car down to your local indie pronto and have a complete coolant flush. Put it on a credit card if you have to, but you don't want lager eating away at the insides of your engine and cooling system any longer than you must.

It was one of those front facing cameras, not too long after joining the A1 - just launched through it no chance in hell of slowing down. Thats another problem i had, my side mirrors are broken so i cant see behind me, had a big pile of tent to my left so could only just see a slim slot just above that and my back screen is filthy and faded so i couldnt make out much detail through that either. Couple that with the terrible winscreen quality and i was half blind!
Still - wont matter about the points if the car is buggered!

It was only my third ever race and I got gifted 11 places at the first corner carnage so did have to work hard to keep even the eventual 13th I ended up with The car's not set up right yet and is really oversteery on the exit, so well spotted
