Klassiekerrally Winterswijk (NL) 2007
Discussion
This years classic rally in the small dutch village 'Winterswijk' promises to become another succes.
Already 62 teams have entered, and another 20 or 25 will join soon.
Among the cars are an Aston Martin DB4, a Porsche Speedster, a 911 RS, and some pre-war cars.
From 15.00 hours a big band will play to welcome the equipes, and entertain the public.
We are also planning to set up a supercar paddock, with cars like the Countach and other nice stuff...
Can't wait 'till Sunday the 2nd of September!

Wim, despite no air battles happening, is there a provision for spectators?
Eh, what exactly do you mean? (My english is not 100% waterproof, sorry... )I will not have a road legal Klassieker by the time the event is happening. Is it still worthwhile to come and spectate?

I was referring to old warplanes not attending, but I would still be interested to come around

You bet! See the pics on http://www.klassiekerrally.nl/default.asp?ArtikelGroep=4&ArtikelID=0 and Dinkels pics above. And then there's the big band, the people, the food... The bbq on saturdaynight...I will not have a road legal Klassieker by the time the event is happening. Is it still worthwhile to come and spectate?
You live in Frankfurt?
That's about four hours from Winterswijk?

digga is coming...
I'm hoping to make the trip there again if the invitation is still open?Have emailed Dinkel for some more details. Would travel on the Saturday morning and return on the Monday morning, so ideally need to find a hotel somewhere near the event. Or maybe I could camp? Hmmmm.....
You could stay at my place no problem Dan. The friday before I'm coming back from holiday . . . eat, sleep and early rise sundaymorning: convoy up to W'wijk with Bert's 206 GTi and my humble 307. The kiddo's are coming along as well so I won't stay late this time.
Wim, can you say something about this years highlights?

A nice small Jugendstil hotel very near (about 400 metres) to the Klassiekerrally.
Or else our sponsor Golden Tulip Winterswijk. But that's a bit bigger and less cosy.
Maybe you could camp on the Klassiekerrally meadow too, but there aren't any showers or so... Maybe you can dive in the pool in the morning. I can ask Tom about that.

Ofcourse:Wim, can you say something about this years highlights?
More than 90 cars will start from 10.00 AM. Among them are two DB4's, a Porsche Speedster, a Porsche 911 RS, a Frazer Nash, a TVR and so on.
At our 'Oldtimertreffen' we expect about five Ferrari's and a lot of other nice cars.
From 3 PM the big band will play.
Dink even promised to bring his sax!
Maybe there will be a guitar player in the morning too. Dutchbert came up with that very good idea. We just have to see if the budget is big enough
Oh, and this year we have our first 'Klassiekerrally members BBQ' on saturday evening. So if you want to join us, register on my site and put yourself on the list. Costs are € 10,- p.p., with salads and all, but without the drinks (well, maybe one 'on the house').

what exactly is this? a rally, like driving around, or a 'park and polish' type of thing?
A bit of all actually. 'Rally' shouldn't be taken too seriously though... Speed is not part of the competition element. And our roadbook is not hard to read. It's all about meeting nice people, talk about cars, listen to the music and have something to eat and drink.
Edited to add:
Winterswijk is near Bocholt (Westfalen). Where do you live?
