Just want to thank Der' for allowing me to thrash his mighty BMWs at Vmax sunrise. I just cant believe how good the M6 was
and 187mph (in 6th gear!!) says it all!!!

The Alpina was stunning as well just so supple in its ride but that motor, just an unreal seamless neverending inexorable surge all the way to 174mph in virtual silence. There is no way this two tonne leviathon should be able to out drag a new RS4 from the line but it did and whilst its handling is definitely more set up for comfort it hangs on through the corners just awaiting the next straight to demolish.

Once again DeR' you are a Gent and a scholar and thanks for the opportunity to try your toys out.

Regards Gandalf... (tdm34ds)

smileYes that was me we were 4 up at the time. The Alpina is like the worlds biggest go-kart just select D take aim and floor it.
I've driven a few fast cars in my life but never one that is as easy to take to the edge as that one. Off the line it's quick but once that prodigious engine overcomes its mass at about 60 I dont think many Supercars would stay with it from 60 to say 150 it's quick on a level even the E60 M5 would struggle to stay with it unless its in M sport and primed in the right gear. And when you lift you foot and drive in a normal way its ride rivals a Lexus it's quiet and discrete and beautifully made, To quote an oft seen advert if Carlsberg made super saloon cars it'd be an Alpina!!
