Only just registered on this site (hi everyone!!), but love racing. (was trying to insert a cheesy grin graphic here, but the bloody thing won't let me!!)

Loon - the 400cc Thunderkarts may be capable of 75mph, but i've never witnessed it!!

hello!
yes this karting thing is still going to take place. I think for simplicity we will use Daytona @ Milton Keynes which will mean that most people will have a bit of a journey, some longer than others!.....
Do we organise it for a day later in the year or do we risk the weather, personally i say we do it as soon as possible, MK is a great circuit in the wet or dry.
I will be back with prices etc soon.
Does anyone have a perfernce for format, endurance, one man enduro's or granp prix "heat" style events. I know the one hour one man events are good fun, from memory its 10 min practice, a 10 min qualigfying session and a 40 min race.
Over to you guys.......any takers?

Pablo, I have checked with Daytona and they have most dates available more or less anytime we like. I have also been able to secure a 10% discount on their list prices. The formats for racing are as follows;
1)Mini enduro- 1 hour race for teams of 2 drivers with 10 min practice/qualifying session. COST £95 -10% per team of 2.
2)Sprint race- A 40 min race + 10 min timed practice/qualifying session.COST £60 -10% per driver.

The prices are for weekend events which cost a little more than weekdays unfortunatly but I guess weekends will suit you guys better due to the old work syndrome!
There are other formats available but are probably not suitable ! let me know if you require any further help.

fear not james you are on the provisional list!
no longer a student so the iukc is out, i have had a few "run ins" with laurie this year too so tend to keep UWE stuff to a minimum now unfortunately, still bigger projects await! might even order a caterham this year

Loon, any particular dates, afternoon or evening (floodlit!) race?. shall we just choose a date and see how many make it, was there a maximum or minimum number of entries. I'd like to do a sprint but a mini enduro might make for more entertainment!

Pablo, most dates are available at the moment either afternoon or evening.I think it would be wise to choose a date now and see what the others think !
If we choose to do a mini enduro then the minimum number required is 20 - 50 drivers, sprint race 20-25 drivers.

I'd go for a sprint race, sometime in Feb/March before the motor racing season kicks off and everyone's off doing other things at weekends (IMHO )

Loon: ok, i guess we choose a date then, if you spoke to someone specific would you mind calling Daytona again?, or pass the details on and I will call them.
I agreee with Ted regarding the format and the dates, any saturday afternoon between 9th Feb and the 16th of March should be before the race season starts again...err how about March 2nd to give people some notice to reaarange what ever else they had planned

How do we sort out the deposit........I can email my mobile number if you need it.

Pablo, I will try and book march 2nd (pm) tommorow. With regard to deposits, I live quite close to the circuit so it would probably make sense for me to deal with these if thats ok with everyone. Will keep you all posted,
More as it happens..

OK guys, the karting is booked for the 2nd March at 4pm arrive at Daytona mk for 3.30pm. I have managed to wittle the price down to £51 / driver for the sprint format;10 minute practice/qualifying then a 40 minute race!!. We need a minimum of 20 drivers and a max of 25 so first come first served. I will need £25 from each driver as deposit and the rest can be paid on arrival. Do we want food ? approx £5/head extra depending on menu. Please advise a.s.a.p.
