There are more pull outs than people on the reserve list so almaw, skaffen, duggan, evosport, Greg Garnett feel free to come along. Also those who have posted up today are welcome to come along.

Sorting this and keeping numbers in control has not been easy, so I purposefully made sure there were more spaces available in addition to what I capped it at.

So I guess now is a good time to say...by the way, there are a minimum of 250 spaces available for us at the car park tommorow;)

It was all I could think of... when trying to sort out how to do this, attempting to fit a rectangle into a triangular orifice springs to mind wink

Yes thanks for that Stuart, a real brown trouser moment wink

Thanks to everybody who turned up, it was great to see everyone and the turn out of cars was as usual very impressive. The weather was on our side, and so it would seem were the local authority. The car park manager Nick went out his way to enure that this was a successful meet and I think he surpassed that aim, top bloke and and someone who is a real benefit to these meets.

Thanks to Identti who took the time to stand out in the road for the duration of the meet and film endless footage of cars entering ane leaving, no doubt we will see something from him in the not too distant future. Thanks to the others who also took film and piccies, I am going to start a new thread in a minute to post the piccies on.

What a fabulous start to a great day. I am now off to sink a few beers in the sunshine smile

Thanks to all thumbup

You were returning I think, heading back to VW direction. Me and the Copen (behind) were on route home.

I also think I saw the black M3 going down the A3 at around 1400 as we were on the way to my mums...

A good morning indeed.
The idea of reserving the carpark spaces at the start of this thread seemed a waste though. There were loads of spaces, and it served to discourage some from entering. Some nice cars parked in the laybys and I'm sure a few folk were put off from coming altogether.
Next year, I vote for first come first served. Cheers.

I also vote for first come, first served next time.
Also, shame on those that said they would come but did not both.
Mum can wait till the afternoon, so can the wife.

Numbers were lower than I expected and we could have had another 50 cars with ease. I can see why people dropped out (worried they would not make it in the car park) but in order to continue to have VW as an annual venue, there is not alot left we can do other than organise it in this manner.

I agree that a first come first serve idea would work, and in essence that is what today was always destined to be on the gates. However, I can't help but feel that a crude "on the day" first come first serve method would mean traffic queue's, tailbacks out the car park and the inevitable intervention from the authorities that could serve to ruin the ambience.

The "list" was a grey area and I agree that it's purpose was slightly pointless, but then again, maybe it did work in that it encouraged enough but prevented some...

All in all the meet was a success, and I feel it is something that we should try and continue if we can smile

you know who you are wink

James, good work in organising the meet, and working with the guys at the VW car park.
did they say they'd be happy to have us back?
Yes, they were very pro... BUT

The words from the man himself was "This is really good (blah blah blah) but once a year is enough, twice if your pushing it..."

I had suggested an Autumn meet but know now wink maybe ain't such a good time...

Bottom line is that VW were awesome, and can be contacted with ease regarding meets, but I do get the impression that today provided them with a sigh of relief...
