Thanks everyone, Firstly bikers wont be forgotten, a number of us are bikers too so we're happy to work on tours for bikes as well if you ask us to.

We and the guys at PH are putting the finishing touches to some fun tours, as well as a few new events and details will be released very soon smile
Harsh, why not allow some bikes on the car trips? They could do things at their pace and just meet up along the way if they wanted to shoot off. (Like we did on the Alpine tour with different groups of cars.)

Being a biker myself, I know the roads would be good for it and I guess the Bikers would like the same sort of sights , visits etc as everyone else. It could be kinda a cool mix to have a few bikes in with the party. No scruffy greebos though. lol And before anyone says anything, I was one once.

In fact , they could be the early warning system against cops. BRILLIANT!

Anyone got an answer for us please?

Eurohoon and MegaHoon has it's own section which seems to be pretty successful and well attended by a lot of the old school PH members.

Are Dettaglio no longer associated with PH?

where's Gruffy gone then? What happened to the FB5K site?

A bit of history explained would be nice...

I think you will find that most people will not want to rake over what happened last year. Suffice to say FB5K is no more and much water has passed under the bridge since then.

Quite how I have managed to miss all this is beyond me....I apologise for the delayed reply.

As PistonHeads is now linking with Petrolhead Nirvana for driving holidays, Nick Smith at Dettaglio and I have been talking about the best way to continue the relationship between PistonHeads and Hoons.

It was decided that a restricted forum was the best way forward with access being given by Nick so that he can continue to talk to clients and social events could be discussed. As it is now a 'private' forum for Dettaglio customers, it is no longer a public access area.

The best bet is for those that used to post on this forum (posters who have been active on the Hoon forum since the beginning of 2009 already have access) is to contact Nick Smith to request access. It will have restricted access and Nick will only give access to those who have been on a Hoon, or who are attending a future event.

A similar public forum will be created to accommodate the attendees of the Petrolhead Nirvana events in the near future.

Cheers guys, and sorry again for leaving it so long to respond.

I'm right here wavey

Despite appearances, they are not the same company. It must just be a remarkable coincidence that 'their' intellectual property is almost identical to that which was authored for FB5K. What are the odds, eh?

It has already been requested a couple of times that this is not discussed within this thread. But it is a shame that feelings are still so raw over this frown James was far more of a gentleman in his response...

Eta - Having read this back, I'm not suggesting that Gruffy is being 'un-gentlemanly'! More that the way James asked for something that is obviously raw to some people not be raked over was as very gentlemanly way to do it; compared to some of the reactions I've seen on PH hehe

I totally agree, The FB5K's that Robin & Darren put together were totally awesome & after many years of screaming round Europe on various runs they certainly were the pinacle of corporately organised events for me.
I can understand Darrens frustration seeing FB5K dismantled & then the material he helped create being used by another organisation as their own. I also believe its difficult for him to comment further for legal reasons.
There are still a lot of raw edges & one day all the facts will be known. In the mean time lets hope PN can deliver what people want, they have a team that certainly should be able to & time will be the judge. As others have said debating this at length is probably not the best thing to do for all involved.

Looking forward to seeing you on a winding pass very soon winkwink

Thanks Rich.

For what it's worth Darren was/is an excellent filmaker and i still watch the 2007 DVD's over and again. I hear he's working on another project which will be released soon and i have no doubt it will be as well crafted, filmed and edited as all his work is that i have seen up to now.

As you and I discussed elsewhere they were the best holidays I've ever been on bar none.
It is a real shame FB5k couldn't continue, everyone associated with it, especially those who went on the tours absolutely loved it.

Petrolhead Nirvana was a phrase coined by Robin in a moment of inspiration when trying to describe what it was that they were trying to create.

Because that concept has not changed it seemed only fitting that Robins words were used as the name we used to take up the baton. The wish to stay focussing on the best roads and having a good time whilst leaving egos at home is exactly what made FB5k so good and keeping that spirit is the most important thing for me.

Choosing a completely different name would have been easier but keeping the spirit alive made the difficult choice the only one.

Finally, as i've tried to say before judge us on what we produce. Come on tour with us, or come to the Dunsfold Charity event we're helping to organise.
There's no great conspiracy, we are simply Petrolheads with the skills to organise fun stuff for other petrolheads and thats all we want to do.

Anyone who has been on a run or on tour with me will know that my first thought is to make sure everyone is having a good time and i'm often found at the back of the pack making sure no one gets left behind. Ben, Robin and Nancy are the same.

Thats what you get with us.

Not sure where else it should be discussed if not here. I'd have asked on the FB5K site if that didn't redirect somewhere else that i don't seem to be a member on. Should i bring it up on the PN site? How well would that go down?

From what i can see it was done in a crappy manner. Surprised to see PH doing business with a company so obviously built on nasty business practices. Wouldn't have been hard to start another company without stting on the first would it?

Poor show.

Try emailing those concerned if you want to know the truth.

Although there are always 3 sides to a story - his, his and the truth, so you will never actually know.

Why not beleive what you want to and stop trying to rake up unpleasentness on PH??

Andy,

I am more than happy to have the conversation with you offline if you wish.
if you do wish to contact me via PN or bring it up on there then feel free.

I have absolutely nothing to hide and neither does anyone else at PN.
The reason it isn't being discussed on here is simply down to the fact that as when any relationship between two people breaks up there is animosity on both sides and airing that in public is never a good idea as it makes things worse.

I'll be honest and say that I dont find your assumptions and comments particularly fair considering that you may well only have heard once side of the story (if at all)
My suggestion to you is to have a conversation with Darren and also one with me and make your own decision if you really wish to get into it.

Otherwise can we just get on with being petrolheads please?

Papercup.... you clearly know nothing of what has gone on and your stated assumptions and accusations are totally unfounded and merely show your complete lack of knowledge on the subject.

Also the fact that you have a complete lack of knowledge also indicates that you don't really care as if you really did then you would know the background!
