The Sporting Bears organise 10-mile passenger rides for charity at a few selected events such as the Classic Motor Show.
All the money received in donations for Sporting Bears Dream Rides goes to the nominated charities not a single penny raised is taken out by either the Sporting Bears or the Classic Motor Show.
The NEC Classic Motor Show (13-15 November) is the best fund raising event for us to get money for the children’s charities we support.
In exchange for a donation to charity you can take a 10-mile ride as a passenger in one of the cars available out on the Queen’s highway, picking up and dropping off inside the show.
For the many charities we have supported

Hi Nigel,
I have been to the show at the NEC for the with my Celica GT-Four hillclimb car and I came to Supercar Sunday with my TVR Chimaera.
Unfortunately I am selling the TVR tomorrow, but I will hopefully be buying one of these very soon, which I would be happy to bring along:
Alternatively, there is a chance that my rally car engined, road legal Celica hillclimb car will be ready in time and I can bring that!

As usual please fill in the forms and post to Mick Bryan along with a spare 6" x 4" photo
See you there, cheers, Nigel
Erm I would happily do this
But only have a old mini is rather unique though and little kids may like it and teenagers etc...
I am only 17 myself and it certainly attracts a lot of attention I must say
It certainly is not a super car though lool :/
I wont take offence if you don’t want me to bother as I do realise not anything special by any means lool

Greg great to have you offer
Lots of kids, to great granddads, are Mini fans, many at the show
Check out all the info on the Sporting Bears Dream Rides - what's it all about page, especially the link to Drivers' questions answered and check out it with your insurer, usually no problem and many classic specialist know about SBDR
then fill out the necessary application form – Drivers Application NEC 2009 and post off to Mick Bryan along with a spare 6" x 4" photo of your Mini
I'd suggest you have legal plates or you may attract the wrong kind of attention but I'm sure the plates in the photos above are for show purposes only
It'd great to see a Mini and a young driver there, we welcome sensible drivers of any age

Okay thanks
Will look at filling form in a couple of days as having the car all checked over tomorrow after some new brakes I have fitted as obviously want a safe car
And yeah the plates are illegal and came with the car before from the previous owner who seemed to take a lot of short cuts which I have to fix.
I am ordering some new ones as they say tom on them anyway and my name happens to be Greg funnily enough
Oh my test is not till the 2nd November will include this in the letter I send off I do drive the car most days with my dad and I am a safe driver in it just I was ill for last test so been a bit late booking it :/ I am 99 percent sure I will pass but will have to say that if I do indeed fail I will not be able to make it and will include this information in what I sent off. But I would be privileged to help our so early on in my driving career and help a few charities 
Will also speak to a friend to see if he is interested as he again is 17 is passed and is the owner of a rather lovely 1972 Beetle.
Regards
Greg

And yes if I can do that it seems like a better idea I was just a bit worried that sending it off then may be a bit late but if this is not the case then of course it is the best option
Thanks
Greg

I would love to take part but neither of my insurers will cover me for charity drives Both see it as for hire and reward even though I would not be making money
Hi Plastic both insurers are totally wrong have you been through these notes with them?
I know that sometimes (a lot of times with some companies) you can get the wrong information (or wrong person to dealt with) no matter what your discussing with them
Having had to do my own chase-up work with insurance companies, on other matters, I can assure you - from my personal experience (before anyone complains about this) - that they can make many mistakes and get the information and answers to enquiries wrong
I'd suggest emailling/faxing the notes to them (do they really mean you can't offer lifts to people!?) and explain that other insurance companies have a fully understanding
Sorry to rant but so often I've dealt with people who guess the answer rather than taking the time to find the correct information
Having said that sometimes you just have to give in

Please be advised that due to work being carried out on electrical systems adjacent to the M42, signals and traffic lights on the island at Junction 6 are likely to be affected on Sunday 15 November, between 0800 – 1400 hours.
We would advise visitors attending events at The NEC between these times to allow additional time for their journey, or to plan an alternative route in order to avoid any potential delays.

Depends what route you take but yes it could, no doubt alteratives could be offered but as some only find part of the suggested route it may not for themI'll try and speak with Steve ("the garage" supremo) as he's local
Email me for a route in avoiding those traffic lights for getting in first thing Sunday (that's if you're NOT stopping up there in a hotel)
ETA: hold on Harsh that isn't actually on the suggested route (or certainly the route I've been using) but it may be on your route
ETA: I've just noticed I've missed out the word NOT again
