There certainly was. We were moved from out usual place by the fence this year. But, it worked in our favour. As you saw, we were the first club to be seen by those coming over the bridge and the open gate led hordes of people right past our stand.

Hopefully we've inspired some more lunatics to to take an interest in our club, or, even to build one of these wonderful machines.

yes Historic sporting pedigree is what the whole event is all about of course so they made for a very fitting entrance smile

I was walking around (white top and red overalls tied round my waist) and was thinking that I probably saw PH'ers but obviously wouldn't know one if I saw one. Maybe there should be a human equivalent of a car smiley...

Like these you mean?

Were you flogging DVDs at Bridge on Sunday afternoon by any chance?

Well we'd look a bit silly going everywhere in PH t-shirts, I was thinking more a sticker or something.

No, I was with the medics, you probably saw us chasing the races in silver passats smile

A great way to get close to action to be sure smile

Was it a 'busy' weekend for the meds? I imagine sunburn was probably the biggest problem, for the fans at least. On the subject of how warm it was, you have to tip your hat to the racers in some of the sportcars with minimal ventilation and a whopping great engine pumping out the heat = must be pretty damned uncomfortable in overalls/nomex/helmet/gloves.

The St John's people and the nurses in the medical centre dealt with the public, we were just there waiting in the car on certain corners ready to be scrambled for a crash. Only a few incidents, one bloke flown off in an air ambulance but he was fine, a broken limb or two but other than that, nothing nasty.

I agree, it was very hot, even when the sun disappeared.

Pretty tough for the racers? Try sitting in a traffic jam in my Strat.

Great way to lose weight though!

I'm pleased there was nothing too major for you and your people to deal with Lucy. As I'm sure you are too.

An excellent weekend of racing and Silverstone's awesome fast corners only becoming more alluring with time. Stood at my favourite spot on the outfield as the cars turn flat-out left into Maggotts as Bill Coombs chased and then passed Steve Hartley's Arrows in the second Master's GP event was very special. As was the spectacle of Jamie McIntyre's thundering Lister Chevrolet pummelling its way towards Stowe - he has really got that car working well now. And Martin Stretton's awesome charge in the Abarth in Saturday's Italian Cup race - the speed he carried through Bridge and into Priory was a joy to behold. I'm afraid the concerts are a joke to me and have no place at a motor racing event, but I may remain outspoken on that matter. Cars and racing are what matters, not Jedward.

However, the racing and grids were very good - although nothing will match Goodwood Revival from that point of view. Just because of its rather anodyne location, it will never match the triumvirate of European historic events - Goodwood, Monaco and Le Mans. However, it is closer to Le Mans than some might otherwise give it credit for; except maybe for the weather. LMC this year was by far and away the hottest racing event I've been to - even hotted than the 24hrs in 2000.

Obviously good that nobody was seriously hurt, but I take no honour for that, I was simply munching biscuits and learning how it all works (and helping a little bit!). The heroes are the qualified medical staff and the marshals.

Who was running the car auction last year? It was Jaguar themed and all and sundry were free to mooch around inside and have a look at the cars.
Was it the same as this year i.e Bonhams? This year it was entry to the Sale Marquee by Catalogue only.

No idea how much a catalogue was but I refused to pay on principle.

Also, I never did find out the reason for the Gentleman Drivers being red flagged on the Saturday? I am sure someone can tell me...

One of the Cobras (silver I thing) went off in a pretty bad way, I assume near Stowe as I was sat in Luffield and saw nothing. I think that would be the air ambulance Lucy mentioned earlier. On that subject Lucy how did you get to do what you did? I presume you're training to be a medic anyway? Fantastic way to get close to the action - were there any other perks?

Does anyone know what happened in the big touring car race on the Saturday? One car went off and the driver had a major hissy over the radio regarding a car he reckoned shouldn't have been in class and a driver that couldn't even go round corners - didn't quite catch what he was on about though.

Wish I knew - I just caught the interviewer apologising to the listeners so I assumed a driver had been a tad outspoken hehe

It was free entry on Friday.

Yeah.

I did wander over at inopportune times just to be able to say I made an effort (y'know chap, the NSX stand WAS pretty central... wink ), but couldn't find you to hurl abuse at in person.

Ah well, next year... biggrin

Saw the wreckage of that come in on the low-loader (it was a lightweight E-Type Zippee - emphasis on "was", although given their value we reckon it'll still be rebuilt), and it really didn't look pretty. The mood on the pit-lane while the other drivers were waiting for news on him was pretty sombre - very glad he's comparatively unscathed! thumbup
