Poor throttle response with Dellorto DHLA carbs
Discussion
Guys, I ended up nailing the set up of the carbs. I have been running them for about a year. I love them. I found a really great description of the differences that the emissions cabs have vs. standard DHLA/DCOE logic. Once I returned the carbs to their proper base line configuration, all was well.
I installed a wide band AFM and that help immensely.
I get 30 mpg on the highway. 110 rwhp, and 125 ft lbs of torque at the wheels, on a Dynatech dyno. They told me that it consistently disappoints car owners because it registers 15% lower than Mustang and Dynajet type machines.

Apparently, it depends on whether you are using emissions or the older non emissions carbs:

Hi all, if anybody is interested still, I am, just found this and I am playing with a similar setup, HRG ,Twin DHLA 40 G !!!
as per last comment, its that Suffix "G" These are Emission Carbs and require a different approach apparently,

And as luck will have it, I just decided to start tinkering with my HRG/Dell'Orto equipped car again as well!
The story about Emission sounds like it might warrant some further looking into.
