Did they charge you for dropping the engine down otherwise how in hell they got to no.5 id love to know

Anyone monitored the air mass meter voltages these can go off (causing over-fuel/under-fuel) and still throw no fault codes its OK plugging in a diagnostic scanner and seeing no faults but the live data needs to be understood this generally separates the men from the boys scratchchin already some useful/helpful comments so far though thumbup

You would need a something to compare it against preferably another 2.7 with a brand new maf and in good working order

we have 2002 jeep cherokee 2.7d, only 68k on the clock. yep we have the same problem but to no ill effect. loads of power, starts first time, covered 4k miles in the summer touring europe. is this an issue, annoyance or will it impact on MOT?

not to sure if anyone is still following this thread, in our case the cause of the problem was the turbo, warn bearings, turbo was not spinning at full speed, causing issue with air intake and exhaust etc...
this did not show up on the on the dash as an engine management fault...
