Both - it's a BMW with a 5.7

Roger that. I just thought I'd ask if anyone else has a car converted to ls1 / ls2 as a few people above were talking like they might be about to do it.

That I do however, just not a BMW or 5.7 lol.

There are quite a few on the forum, some frequent here, TBH the Holden/HSV section probably has more as it's a livelier forum and loosely LS based.
But quite a few TVR guys have went LS too.

Not sure what I intend to do with my escort ls1 now it is finished, but I have still to try rallying! I could sell the escort complete and then build another. But if anyone wants a complete ls1 with t56, tubular manifolds, rear sump, ecu and all the wiring I may be tempted to convert the escort to S2000 power and hit the tarmac stages!

Yeah drive it. Does it / would it pass an mot?

I'm guessing it's a stripped out caged racer.

I bought my ls powered bmw without any real thought other than I want it. Now I'm using it as my every day run about. I'm guessing a mk1 escort as an every day run around is a serious stretch.

Car is group 4 spec except for cossie rear diff and is fully road legal. It just that if anyone wants a full LS1 conversion on the 'key' I will break the car for the right price.

I had an LS2 RX7 - sold it as it annoyed me that it simply couldn't get the power down - I used it as a daily.

New owner intended to put 888's on and use it as a sunny weekend car, which it probably excelled at.

Roughly how much do these change hands for?

There is / was one on Ebay for £11,500 which I think was sold on here for closer to £10k.

IIRC I sold mine - which looked standard - for around £10k too.

I paid £2.5k for a 98 LS1 with auto box out of a Camaro about 6 years ago. It came complete with everything to install in my Morris Minor and runs quite nicely. A mate paid a similar amount recently for the same set up to fit in a 1950 Chevy, but got the rear axle thrown in too.
Cheaper option is the Lexus V8, but they are physically larger engines with similar power, and bulletproof.

1UZFE are 260bhp, with an ECU and exhaust you may get 300bhp but over that it gets expensive and turbos / SC are the next step, only available as an Auto and manual conversion kits aren't cheap.

The LS1/2 are easy to get 420+bhp with headers, cam, remap and are available with a manual box.
