The earth lead that is bolted to the slam panel is the body earth

Poster "So What" is blob on with his above post
So exactly like I posted 8 posts back then.

In fact it looks like you have even re-hosted the pic that I created for that post.
No.

The earth shown at the slam panel is not the engine earth

Is your picture copyrighted?

I changed my username.
Yes I deleted my post's when I noticed. I thought you could have been an imposter or dodgy one of sorts

Maybe I misunderstood your post then.

There is an earth strap that goes from the engine block up to the slam panel. And an earth strap that goes from the battery to the slam panel, which completes the circuit.

On my car, I bought an additional earth strap which I connected from the block straight to the same bolt on the slam panel that the battery negative connects to. I can't say it made any noticeable difference though.

No, my pic isn't copyrighted. I just thought it a little odd that you would re-host it and quote it back on the same thread it had been posted to. No harm done. smile

Nothing odd about it, I didnt want to quote all your above post as I only needed to use your image to point out that the earth lead that comes from the battery and bolts to the slam panel is the body earth

The slam panel has nothing to do with earthing the engine and you would not solve a starter problem with a new lead from slam panel to engine block

That lead coming from the battery to the slam panel is a thin lead that is used to earth the body

If you look closely at the picture where that thin slam panel lead can be seen coming from the battery, in the bottom righthand corner of the picture you can just see part of what looks like a heavy battery lead....that lead or a lead like it will go from the battery directly to the engine block

If that thin lead from the battery to the slam panel was the main engine earth (apart from it being too thin)....the manufacturer would not have ended that run of lead there but would have continued it through to the engine block without breaking it

I hope this helps

Ok, my mistake. I did indeed misunderstand your post. paperbag

What is the thin braided earth that goes from the block up to the slam panel? Is that an additional body earth?

Sorry, I cant give an opinion on this lead as there is not enough detail in the image
