Sump gasket sealant help
Discussion
Few questions as im about to tackle this at the weekend.
I would like to know if sealant is required to replacing a sump gasket. Ive read some who do and some who dont.....
If i do use a sealer, how long do i have to wait before i can put oil back in the engine and get it off the ramps? everywhere i read its 24 hrs... i dont want the car on the ramps over night.
I own a Mondeo ST220.
Any tips / advice?
Thanks

What type of gasket is it?
If rubber then no sealant.
If cork then no sealant unless the sump flange is in bad condition.
If no gasket then yes sealant will be required but as little as possible as you don't want it squishing out inside the engine.
Cure time will depend on the type of sealant used.
