Wifey has a 2.0 petrol Qashqai and the mechanic commented at the last service that there was a bit of a sudden takeup when you pulled away and questioned whether it might be the DMF (if it has one) but not being a Nissan guy just said keep an eye on it.

Just drove it again today and there's definitely a thump there, very difficult to pull away smoothly, but it's not a judder, just a sudden takeup. No noise or anything.

Then I noticed that if you come off the power and reapply it thumps again (no clutch involved), most noticeable in 1st and 2nd at low speed (I guess where there is more momentum involved).

Thoughts now leaning towards engine mounts rather than clutch/flywheel.

Any other ideas?

A failing dmf would make a rattling/banging noise at idle

I would be looking at diff mounts and propshaft support bearings.

Get the engine steady bar checked underneath this car this controls engine rock and gets a hard time its a common failing on Renaults with this arrangement, it creates a thud when your on and off the throttle i.e Clio, Meganes etc

That sound promising - is it easy to check for play DIY on axle stands?

Pretty much wink if its bad enough you can rock the engine like a cradle if it worn bad enough just by grasping the eng sump and rocking front to rear frown its an easy fix if thats your trouble smile
