i am trying to source a genuine gm oil pump for a c20xe. the engine is in a escort mk2 rally car the engine has covered 100 stage miles since a full rebuild during our last event the pressure relief valve stuck and it only had 40psi at 8000 rpm after cleaning all was ok until the oil got really hot and the pressure fell back to 40psi again when the engine was rebuilt we used a pattern part oil pump .since speaking to people in the know i have been told to fit a genuine part as some pattern parts are poor quality for competition use. any info will be greatly appreciated regards will philip

SBD always used to keep these in stock. www.sbdev.co.uk
iirc there is an early type and a later type. The later type can be fitted to the engine needing the earlier type and is cheaper too.
If the engine does high revs its worth putting in the steel oil pump gear as standard ones can shatter over 8000 rpm.
And whatever you do dont fit the nylon/plastic pressure relief valve that some people swear by. I have seen and heard of them sticking for no reason but not seen the same with the standard steel one.

Are you sure the oil is not getting too hot? My valve used to stick when the oil got really hot, put lots of effort into the pump which did not solve the issue, sorted out the oil temps and no further issues.
