Connect Zetec to Renault gearbox / transaxle

Hi all, looking for some experienced words of wisdom. Anyone connected a Ford Zetec engine to a Renault gearbox/transaxle (NG3)? I've got a kit car that needs building and has a Pinto connected to the NG3 and I'd like to swap it for something a bit more modern. I'm thinking about a Ford Zetec or Vauxhall C20XE. Since the NG3 gearbox has an adaptor plate that fits onto the Pinto I was wondering whether a Zetec would bolt straight on. I realise I could tune the Pinto but it's only a 1.6 so I'd probably want to buy a 2L anyway and if I'm buying an engine, might as well be a newer one. Thanks for any help.

Crossflow to Zetec all these fords have the same bolt pattern so should be a simple fit, you may need to modify the sump to take the starter and may need a thicker release bearing
