I want to use an ABS ring for an application other than ABS. Ideally the ring would be around 60mm diameter with as many teeth as possible. It seems there are two types, one is simply a ferrous toothed ring and the other is effectively a round multi pole magnet. Ideally I would prefer the multi pole magnet type but could use either.

The problem is the suppliers ask what car the part is for but obviously I don’t know that. Can anyone suggest a vehicle which has an ABS ring of around 60mm. All the ones I have obtained so far are closer to 75 which doesn’t fit my project.

Thanks

Maybe there is an online catalogue or supplier that might give dimensions ?

Even some sellers on egay list dimensions, but 60mmID is pretty small when you consider it's usually on the outside of a CV joint.

http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Carspares-direct/ABS-Ring...

Other option is to get something water jetted in the size you need ?

Or use a larger diameter ring if space permits, and make a small adaptor between the two, so the ring is always an off the shelf part.

Thank you for that link, it seems a Mitsubishi Gallant one is 65.9 which will just fit in the space have. It is still not ideal as it only leaves a small clearance but should just squeeze in. I did investigate having them laser cut but the cost is too high even at 1000 off.

As you say it needs something with small drive shafts so I was thinking Smart car or something small and French.

Really? Are you sure? For 1000 you should be able to get the piece price down to under £2 each, even having them cnc'd, let alone waterjet/laser cut? if you can design one that comes out a std wall thickness bit of seamless tube, you'd have hardly any material wasteage either!

I use jr supplies on eBay for rings and cv joints on run of the mill stuff . They seem to have the largest range of rings and might be able to help

Contact Ralph at www.componentengineering.co.uk

You will not need to get 1000 or even 10 and he can do waterjet or laser.

What exactly is the application ?

And is space a limitation ?

Is it to replicate an OEM sensor ring for ABS purposes, or just something for speed or traction control on an aftermarket setup ?

Must it be press on, or bolt on ?

There are many many ways to achieve a trigger.

First Google attempt. I'm sure there are more options and cheaper...

BTW, when I'm looking for a part like this, I google it and then immediately go to the images tab. You'll find what you're looking for much more quickly without having to surf a million strange pages.

Thanks for the replies.

If required we will get some laser profiled but would prefer to use a standard part already treated against the environment.

I would ideally like 40 or 50 teeth but could live with a few less, it is going on a 10mm shaft so provided the id is more than 10mm that is fine, we will make a bush for it to press on to.

We have some from J&R, the quality and price is spot on but they don't list the three that I have identified as a possibility to fit the space. Being; Ford Ranger, Daewoo Musso and Jeep Grand Cherokee. The OD has to be less than 70mm. Astra would just about squeeze in but doesn’t have enough teeth.

Is it for ABS ? That's a lot of teeth for anything other than ABS really.

10mm shaft is very small ? I take it this isnt for a car ?
