was wondering if it was possible to fit paddle shifters in a manual car like a Subaru Impreza 2008.

i don't want the 'it will be easier to buy a car with them already'

genuinely looking for info on how it would be done and how much it would cost rougly

thanks in advance.

It could be done, but it would probably cost more than the car is worth.

A bit less, maybe.

I guess you could get the paddle shifters done to mate up to this for a few hundred.

Paddle shifts are difficult to fit on a manual gearbox due to the selector gate H pattern
You could fit a paddle shift to an auto using the manual shift selector
Clutch actuation and paddle doesn't work well or feel good
The easiest paddle fit is to a bike engine with sequential box, clutch for first then clutch less for the rest up & down
Sequential versions of manual boxes can be bought, Elite, Quaife, TransX and probably more but they are thousands

The Modena Sequential is around £13k, not sure how much Dave's conversion is.

Samsonas is slightly cheaper at around £10k

But then of course you need the paddle kits on top.

There is no cheap way to achieve this.

The cheapest if you really insisted would be to use the likes of an Ikeya sequential shifter for the H pattern synchro box and build a air operated paddle shifter for it.
But as the synchro box itself is a limiting factor it isnt a good idea, and you'd still be in to £5-6k

You could maybe do it a little cheaper wit a lot of DIY but it will still always be limited if it's a synchro box requiring the clutch to shift.

I've just fitted one to my westy. Elite sequential was 2500, plus a xoombox that dies everything and some pneumatic actuators. Works great! Some vids on you tube if you search xoomspeed.
