auto gearbox rebuild ZF 5HP19

My BMW's box failed- reverse gear gone - and has gone in for a full rebuild.

Can someone explain what that entails? What exactly is replaced?

The only person who can answer that, is the person rebuilding your box.

And "full" rebuild can mean many things to many shops, from very little to quite a lot.

Fairly common old age problem apparently the clutch drum breaks up behind the plates retaining ring I hope not my E46 the same box ZF have uprated the part I am lead to believe
