Where is the Starter motor?? 207 1.6 HDI
Discussion
Hello ..new on here ..have to change the starter on our 207 sw ...opend the bonnet and cant find it ? I know whewre it should be but getting at it looks impossible ..
Anyone else changed one on this make ? pretty sure it can not be that difficult ...changed loads on older cars in the past was just a case of 3 bolts and your done... .looking at this it seems I need to remove the undertray and half the wiring loom.
Am pretty sure fault is starter solenoid..it fires up fine from cold..but as soon as it gets hot will not crank..after an hr or so cooling off it starts..also starts from a bump...car is 08 1.6 hdi 207 sw. its making the trip to the village shop difficult ..and am looking at 500! local dealer

When you buy another starter, make sure you get a reputable make.
Speaking to garage owners locally, the quality of replacement starters has declined badly, often meaning replacing the replacement within weeks. Not so bad if fitting is a 10 minute job but on something like a Pug or Mondeo you have to give away half a days labour sorting it out under warranty, which the supplier will not pay for.
Before removing your starter, check the wires and cables for security and damage, you don't want to replace a good starter in error.
