Hi all, I have owned an E92 M3 in the past which I supercharged with an ESS VT600 kit, very quick !!. I have since sold the car on and I bought one the last of the E92 M3s from new. The car is coming to the end of a three year PCP and I think I may keep it as I dont want another PCP over 4 years. To this end I have the modding bug again and am thinking of supercharging this one to around the 600 bhp mark. Looking at options the ESS kit versus the G power kit, similar power gains but G Power is twice the price, why ?? It looks a better kit manufacturing wise but for twice the price ? Any one shed any light on this, are the blowers different, power delivery different or anything else ? The car has BBK, Akrapovic Evolution exhaust so is ready to go, any advice most appreciated.

Different brands of Supercharger and one is intercooled and one isn't. I'm a bit sceptical of +200hp from the non-intercooled ESS setup. It might make that on the first cold dyno pull, but as heatsoak sets in, that power will start to fall. Seen it many times when using Vortechs without an intercooler. Trouble is, if you do use an IC, you need a smaller pulley to claw back the boost loss, then you run into belt slip issues yada yada.

I'd turbo it personally. Or look at the Evolve kit, which uses the Rotrex blower, which imo gives more clout for your cash than the Vortech, and it doesn't require anywhere near as much belt tension.

There is very little pressure drop using a water to air inter cooler? Maybe an option or using a smaller efficient Garrett bar and plate air to air inter cooler.

Well I ordered and had fitted the ESS intercooled VT625 kit. Total cost including fitting was less than £7k so a lot less than evolve or G power kits. The car is making 619 flywheel bhp on a maha dyno and the performance is breathtaking. The kit was fitted by A Reeve performance in Kings Lynn and the owner Aaron liased with ESS to fine tune the final ECU map to get all perameters spot on including the AFR readings. Aaron is now an authorised ESS dealer for the UK. Rod bearings dont need uprating but it is suggested when the car gets to around 35000 it may be a precautionary measure to fit ESS uprated bearings. Driveability is as stock and the power delivery is linear until you open it up... will spin the wheels in 1st 2nd and 3rd, its scary but awesome. Highly recommended !

Nice ! We need a video dude. That's crazy power to be had for a relatively low amount of money.

Had similar thoughts about my E46 M3 !

Just found this thread. It sounds amazing for the money. How's it been over the last year?

Awesome performance and faultless power delivery. Have tracked the car numerous times and no problems it leaves most things behind on the straights! ! Value for money and best mod I've done

Nice work they do go well when supercharged I'd did similar on my RS4 (it worked out at around & couldn't fault for the 9 months I ran it & four + years on the new owner has no intention (I asked) of selling.

You'll have smiles for miles with that conversion.
