Engine alignment
Discussion
Hi all
When you observe the installation of an MB I6 motor in an engine bay, it appears skewed at an angle north/south. i.e The front of the engine looks like it's closer to one wing and the rear the other wing
Is this an optical allusion or could it be to compensate so the drive chain aligns with the torque the engine develops?

Could be a variety of reasons but that's the way the motor company want it.
If you move it the gear-lever will move, the prop will hit the tunnel and probably s lot of other stuff
Most rear diffs are off centre, you may want to look under the rear
p.s. Take a tape measure and report back

To me that looks like an optical illusion, with the firewall shape not being equal sided. Those are two red rectangles from paint just to bring the edge of the photo in parallel.
Looks nice and clean in there!
Not my car, it's a random internet pic.
Mine will never be that clean, it's more functional. I like a tidy car but really can't be bothered with all the under bonnet show and shine cosmetics.
