Jesus wept,

I don't want to gamble, that's why I'm asking.
So you don't think your gambling by asking strangers on the internet rather than following what Toyota recommend??

The GT86 is relatively high revving, 7.5k redline and I'm someone who likes to rev a car
That's not high revving.

This is high revving:

Nothing much happens until 8k rpm but it is only 600cc ! But it does make about 120bhp.

Kawasaki states a basic 10w40 for this engine, not even a so called "fully synthetic" - Primarily because that's what's been available and bikes also don't have official efficiency tests and emissions have until recently been significantly less stringent than for cars. You can now get a greater variety of bike oils but 10w40 is usually still specified by manufacturers, even for very high revving engines.

I also like to track the car.
The oil won't know that, just change it slightly more frequently.

Incidentally, when the t'interweb is replaced by whatever comes next, one of the key reasons stated for its demise, will be the constant "What oil . . ." threads of forums wink

I suspect part of the choice of oil in a traditional bike engine set-up is to do with it sharing oil with the gearbox and clutch as well as the engine. (assuming yours is that type of course)

The gearboxes do share the engine oil but the grade is specific to the engine not the gearbox. Bike oil is usually changed earlier than cars because of this, often 5000 or 6000 miles.

I was thinking more of synthetic/additves/friction reducers etc being part of the reason for a specific oil, rather than the grade in particular, in reference to the "fully synthetic" and "greater variety of bike oils" part of your post.
