i travel weekly to london from Newport on Monday morning on the 0530. back tuesday 1915 from PAD. gonna be a *massive* PITA but worthwhile in the long run... the magic combo of GWR electification & crossrail will cut my journey by 45mins. I hope they discount the tix sufficiently during the disruption. Will probably drive to Parkway to avoid the busses. happy to lift share !

Just don't try driving to Bristol after 7 or so. Nose to tail just after the bridge to the M32.

Flybe are doing flights from Cardiff Airport to London city. The return prices are actually cheaper than my usual train ticket, so will probably do this when I am needed in London.

Just saw that, £38 off peak to London City airport, 28 minute ride to the centre for where I need to get to, hell, sod the train forever at that price.

ETA, I cannot normally pre book due too ate changes in where I need to be. So have to live with the silly price tickets.

At the moment the flights are only running whilst the tunnel is closed. I hope they continue it as much easier for me to get to my London office from City airport. Used to fly to London City from Switzerland lots of times, it is a great airport to get through customs quickly etc.

I used it on Monday, took off at 13:45, wheels touched down at 14:20! I spent more time on the tube travelling to my office in Central London than on the plane!

The pilot did say there was a choice of three routes before we took off and didn't know which one we'd get yet. I'm guessing we had the shortest at 35 minutes smile

Ha I used it Monday too.. 8am flight into City and 8pm flight back out. Fantastic and I really hope they keep it going. Same price as the train. Why would anyone get the train!

So the Severn tunnel is open and usable again. Flybe flight times have been scaled back, still 8am out to London, but return 5:55pm is way to early. Shame really wanted to use the service going forward but they needed a later return flight to make it viable for my day trips to the main office. Looks like I will be using the train next week again arrrggg.
