I am trying to sort a cold start issue with my car.

After checking the ignition timing with a timing light against what the laptop(map4000) is saying there is 10 degrees difference in advance at 2000rpm eg; timing light against timing marks on the cover shows about 20deg while the laptop is showing 10.4deg. I hope that makes sense.

Having read the literature from omex, this can be calibrated so the ecu reads properly.

This is where my problem is. I can't find on MAP4000 where I can do this. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

This is the box I am looking for but I'll be fked if I can find it!

Engine is a tuned Xflow running omex 100 ecu.

Thanks in advance.

At a guess you're using a dialback timing light and it's a wasted spark system ?

ie crank trigger only, no cam sensor ?

Just a Boggo cheap Sealey fixed timing light(no advance retard) and yes, wasted spark ignition. It's running webers so ignition only setup.

Actually, now you mention it, would the fact it's a wasted spark setup give a false(double) reading on the marks?

it can do.

Simple test.

check timing at 0deg, it will always read 0

Or check at 5, 10, 15, 20. If it's reading double, the pattern will be very obvious and you'll know it's fine. Also always worth checking at say 1000rpm, and 2000rpm. Again it will highlight any problems, or patterns

That's great thanks.thumbup

I'll give it a try tomorrow. Quite a large brain fart on my part.
