Advice sought - engine flush with NO oil change
Discussion
Evening all,
I have a Mondeo V6, when I last had my MOT done, Kwikfit put in some "engine flush" to get it past MOT, which I have only just now realised when checking the receipt.
I have not really used the car, but it has been there since September 2015 and driven for 1000 miles (or less).
Now, having been trying to figure out why the engine would not rev past 4000 rpm (not limited because it is in "Park" on the auto) when driving, it revs fine below 4000 rpm, but once reach 4000 rpm it runs like a dog, after checking almost everything (EGR / MAF / Lambda) I think I have reached the conclusion that it's probably the sludge that was dislodged and now stuck somewhere...
Question is, what can I do? I intend to get the oil change ASAP (and don't drive it, can drive the other car), should I add some additional "engine flush" like Wynn's into the system before the change and hoping the sludge will be dislodged from some injection components or chain...
I am partly to blame I guess, but surely anyone who can speak should have warned me about it after the MOT about changing the oil ASAP (let alone I paid for the damn MOT and is a customer!)
Many Thanks!

A few points from your original post & subsequent replies.
Just because you have noticed this since your MOT does not mean the 2 have to be connected.
If they put engine flush in then it was obviously in desperate need of an oil change if it worked, so this is well overdue, they should have told you this needed doing.
The injectors are not "lubricated" by the engine oil, so you won't dislodge sludge from an injector by using engine flush.
If you are driving it you clearly aren't in "park" so there was no need to even mention that.
Apparently you also seem to think sludge on the cam can cause this...... Not, if there was an issue with cam lubrication, you wouldn't be on here asking about rev loss, but horrendous engine noise.
You say there is no fault code so nothing to fix..... Not, engine codes aren't the only aid to diagnosis of an engine issue.
Moving on from that there are other things that may help both you & us.
1. Get it serviced, oil, filter, plugs, fuel filter, air filter.
2. Get the injectors out & have them taken to a local injector repair/service centre.
3. Are there any rattles around the cat area of the exhaust when revving the engine?

I'm thinking broken up/blocked cat - or other silencer. (With normal silencers the internal pipes can rot away & the muffling material can then cause blockages - occasionally on a failed back box you'll see a fluffy material sticking out of the tail pipe)

Hence why I asked the OP about rattling in the cat area.http://www.thecarmania.com/clogged-catalytic-conve...

Thanks for the reply. I will take it to another garage as the first one just said its fine...
Reason why I mention Park is because there is a limiter at 4000 rpm on this car in Park.
The car was service prior to the MOT so the oil is clean.
As you mention it, it does burble and does sound like the exhaust is going, could be the cat.

So is it exactly 4000rpm all the time ? What nature does this limiter take ?Reason why I mention Park is because there is a limiter at 4000 rpm on this car in Park.

I would think it was a fuel system cleaner rather than an engine flush that was used to get it through an emissions test, as for the not revving past 4000rpm when driven I would suggest the fuel pump is failing, not an unknown problem and somehow ussually manifests itself about 4000rpm.
