Big stone chip, evidence of rust starting
Discussion
This is just above the windscreen and it's the first time I've noticed it after washing it for the first time in months. Is there anything I can or should do? It's the only rust I can see on the car which is good for a 12 year old Leon Cupra 180. Sure there are the usual stone chips and some minor scratches but overall the bodywork is in great condition.
What can be done?
If you just want to keep the car looking reasonable for a couple of years, the fixes mentioned are fine.
If you were hoping to keep the car a lot longer than that, it's not good enough because the rust will come back.
The rust will have very likely spread underneath the paint by a little bit, and so quite a lot more paint would need to be removed to get at all of it. And so there would be a lot more making good to be done.
