i'm more looking at it from point of view is a full round skirt inferior in any measurable way over a braced design in a street engine bearing in mind its not an F1 or nascar engine.....would one ever notice the difference?

i don't feel using 2618 is a compromise i want to make for this engine, its not the right choice

Did this thread go anywhere?

I’m looking at gibtec based on the internet reviews but mainly speed of reply from them.

It’s foe a Nissan l6, where I’d like a custom pin height and bore.

Mahle are about 40% more than most. Are they worth the extra?

Depends which Mahle you're talking about...they make cheaper stuff and more expensive stuff

How true it is I don't know, but I've read reports of the skirt coating failing....

they are not much more expensive when you compare like for like, e.g. compared to JE where you pay extra for FSR skirt, coatings, accumulator groove, etc and the Mahle machining quality appears better
