Used the Meguiars ultimate compound with a machine polisher to bring up dull red paintwork(no lacquer top coat). It worked great and i just finished off hand polishing with Autoglym super resin polish(long story why i didn't use machine for polishing).
So car looked stunning but a few weeks later its back to being dull again, how often can you use this ultimate compound? How abrasive is it?
Other strange thing that happened is you know if a car gets light rain spots on it then the drops dry in little circles?Well usually if you wiped a droplet mark with your finger it would come off, these don't and my cars covered in them??
I know they will come off with the compound again but i wasn't expecting dry rain drops to 'stain' the paint and stay there??

Your paint may be fecked but if it isn't you need to use a lighter compound and pad with a machine and then seal the finish.

If you are using a DA I've had good one stage results with Sonax Ex 04-06 and a medium pad.

SRP if full of fillers which is why it looks good until the fillers are washed away. You need to seal the finish properly with a good wax. I like Bilt Hamber Finis Wax.

I use autoglym extra gloss protection to seal after super resin polish. Lasts ages.

I'd suggest using a polish less abrasive than ultimate compound as you are only looking to remove the layer of dead paint, not defects.

Meguiars #7 glaze will help moisturise the paint (just like nivea on your skin) which then needs to be sealed in with a wax.
