Hi,
I've had a look around and I can find a couple of similar issues which I'll try but would like some info issue so I'm posting hoping someone can be of a little help. Sorry if it’s a duplicate.

Vehicle details:
2011 RENAULT TRAFIC SL29 DCI 115 1703 2.0 DIESEL

I've just been to the isle of man classic TT on the way to the ferry coming home a warning light came on. Needing to get there I ignored it and just got my arse to Douglas and onto the ferry, getting off is when the problems started.

So I go down to the car deck, start the van and it refuses, after being towed off and the RAC coming out we get it started by hand pumping the priming pump while turning it over, without doing this it won't start. There are warnings on his machine but he didn't note them down so I have no record of them. He also farted about with the throttle body, cleaned it etc.
I remember one error being to do with the throttle...

Tried to pull away and the van immediately goes into limp home mode, RAC man was following so he had another look, noted a new P2263 error code (Turbo pressure) and so blanked off the EGR Valve in case it was stuck open.

Tried again, and same thing, it has to be started with the manual pump, when we pull away it goes into limp home mode so we got put onto the back of a truck and driven to Wiltshire from Liverpool at 56 mph......

It’s now sat on my drive with 2 errors:
P0448 - EGR
P2263 – Turbo charger/Boost pressure.

The same original problem persists, it won’t start without hand pumping the primer pump while turning the van over, only seems to do this when cold though or been sat.

What I think has happened is:
Either the fuel filter is very blocked or the low pressure fuel pump has died so when you hand pump the fuel through it gets enough to the high pressure side which once running draws enough fuel through to keep it running but maybe sometimes cant’ get enough, hence the original throttle error.

The Turbo/EGR errors are where the RAC guy took things apart and I now have an air leak and the EGR blanked off so are effectively red herrings.

Tonight I’ll be changing the fuel filter and looking at the pump as well as unblanking the EGR and checking for air leaks, as this all happened yesterday and I’m now at work so can’t do anything until tonight. I basically just wanted a confirmation of my logic and thinking or any other ideas of what people think it could be before I'm forced to take it to a garage.

Cheers,

So tonight I replaced the fuel filter, was pretty st but nothing major, going to get some algea treatment though.. also, still the same problem, but.... While I had the bonnet open I noticed the pipe between the intercooler and the turbo wasn't connected so either the RAC guy disconnected it OR this is the cause.

With it back on, the van seems to be starting fine every time although the warning is still on and when I took it out it still says "Check Injection", I'm assuming the EGR Valve could be causing this though.

Anyone have any opinions and could the pipe being off have caused the starting issue? As it's either back to how it should be, or the RAC guy knocked it off so it's back to how it was prior to him messing with it (Except the EGR)

I think these vary, if yours has a lift pump in the tank I'd say it's that. I had a similar problem, it would start if pumping the priming bellows but it wouldn't run for long afterwards, that was the low pressure side of the fuel pump.

If you are having to hand pump it every time it has been sat for a period of time (but it starts fine if you switch it off and back on) it is usually the plastic pipes/connections on the fuel feed from the tank. They won't leak diesel out but do let air in, so all the diesel drains back away from the high pressure pump and it won't start.
