After years of successfully drag racing in my Rover V8 powered TVR the time has come to take it to the next level.

I want to fit an LS motor and use a turbo or 2.

I am considering using the LQ4 6.0 iron block.
To fit a single turbo up front that is big enough might prove to difficult to package so thinking using twins.
The aim would be for 700 bhp as a starting point with scope to 1000bhp.

Any comments, recommendations gratefully received.

I think Neal on here has his LSTTTVR up and running.. Unless you're getting it cheap...I see little reason to use iron. It's a light car...why not try and retain some of that and keep an alloy block ? At 1k, iron isnt going to give any benefit vs aluminium.
And given how much room the exhausts take up out front....surely there is loads of room for a turbo ? a 1000hp turbo doesnt need to be that big.

Either way, with factory type cast manifolds a single or twins could be done on a relatively modest budget. For a single...if you were doing a rear crossover design, this popped up recently and looks tidy. Might not suit a lot of UK cars that sit low to the ground though

I haven't got an engine yet.
I thought going to 1000 might be pushing an ally block but will keep my options wide open thanks.
A single would be nice, I need to start getting things mocked up. One person has told me its too difficult but that sounds like a challenge to me.

I've always had an alloy block...and no intentions of changing.

Obviously what base or indeeed final engine etc etc etc will depend on budget but there really are many ways to achieve your goal.

From a silly budget junkyard L33 5.3, to something fancier with some aftermarket parts.

But it does seem these days, if you pick the right base motor, even in standard form, perhaps with some minor work then can make silly power quite reliably.
It's just a pity those $500 junkyard motors in the US...cost £2k here.

You get various people selling allsorts here, I think some guys there have been importing the smaller engines from the US. Although even some new crate engines arent too bad value.
