weird Cit C1 / Pug 107 engine noise - not the usual - HELP?!

Hi all

I've made the below post on the French Bred section, but wondering if it might get more attention here.


My recently acquired 2011 C1 petrol is making a weird fluttering/clicking noise under acceleration. It sounds completely normal at idle or when revved in neutral, and the noise stops as soon as you lift off the accelerator.

There's a youtube clip entitled "Peugeot 107 2005 1.0 pertol, ticking noise, help!" with the exact same issue, but no-one seems to know what it is. In reality it's louder than it seems in the clip, really very annoying.

The car is warranted by the vendor for 6 months but if I could find a diagnosis and it was an easy fix I'd get it sorted and not bother faffing around with the seller.

Any help greatly appreciated!!

I don't mean to sound arrogant, but you are aware that this is a 3-cylinder engine & has an "off-beat" engine note to it under normal acceleration aren't you?

It is hard to make out on the clip, but, it just sounds exactly like my 2016 1.2 C1, which is pretty much the same engine but bigger.

You don't sound arrogant, but I had a C1 for 3 years before this one. Trust me this ain't the usual gruff engine noise. I quite liked the noise the previous one made, this adds a very irritating clatter from about 2000 revs upwards. In neutral it sounds just like it should, but in gear it makes the additional noise, it's louder than in the clip.
