Hi,

I have a 2003 jaguar xtype 2.0D which I was not going to use again so parked it on the drive remembering it had almost a full tank I tried to siphon the diesel out the tank which I couldn't so I tried to disconnect one of the fuel filter assuming return fitting where the car came to a sudden stop. I gave up.

Fast forward a couple of months and I need to get it started and moved and no matter what I do it wont fire, I have cranked and cranked and nothing - I have sucked diesel through the filter with a pump and still nothing at the injectors. I gave it a spray of easy start and it fired into life but is only running on easy start then stalls (I kept it going for about 30 seconds). It was working fine until I pulled the pipe off originally.

Is there anything else I can try to determine where the problem lies - there are no fault codes showing at all.

I'm getting no diesel at any injectors - all fuses and relays are fine.

Is there a way of completely getting rid of any air in the system ??

When you bleed the filter don't stop when you see the diesel passing through the pipe keep going for a short time, this can result on further air locks being released. Best of luck.

Can you add one of these to any of the lines ?

Or remove the fuel filter and completely fill it with diesel ? Not just a little, but as full as possible then try the easy start again

Just take the filter off and fill it with fuel and maybe try and put some in the lines before reconnecting. For some reason Ford didn’t equip them with a self priming system. And there is no manual lift pump to use.

I had the same issue on mine when it ran out of fuel. And this solved it and got it started no problem.
