This event recreates the format from those meetings and it is hoped that this will encourage drivers in all types of car to compete in a series of competitions.
LIST TYRES ONLY - NO SLICKS OR WETS
The £250 entry fee covers the track time shown below.
1) 10 minute practice
2) 20 Minute High Speed Trial – Where each driver will be given a target number of laps to complete within the 20 minutes. This will be set at below maximum pace but will require error free driving in order to meet the target and win an award.
3) 10 lap Scratch Race usual format with the fastest car on pole
4) 10 Lap Handicap race - staggered start with slower cars given a time advantage at the start.

Hope this happens but I fear the same thing that caused us to wind the Eight Clubs up will make this nice idea difficult.
In its heyday the Eight Clubs had competitors from all strata of Club racing with a large majority driving whatever cars they happened to have - or in some memorable cases specials they happened to have built. As one-make series proliferated we found few of their competitors needed another (and non-championship) race - and even competitors from our two resident Formuae (750 and 1300) would not enter a second (all comers) race as they used to.

Hello Allan, you are spot on, at least for this year. With only 8 entries, I've abandoned the idea.
I have received some positive responses from the surviving founder member Clubs, so will give it another try next year, albeit with longer notice.
It did occur to me that when I first entered the 8 Clubs meetings, there were far less restriction in terms of required safety equipment, which enabled sprint competitors to enter races once a year. I don't remember having a roll cage or more than a lap and diagonal seat belt for my first event! More sensible these days.

I'll stagger on with the Meldrew, which has attracted 30 odd drivers looking for some end of season fun in handicap races.
Toodle pip.
