Cam Belt slack and alignment issue
Discussion
Morning,
First cambelt and quite pleased with myself - however...
V6 engine, only 1 cam pulley on each head, crank pulley, one bearing and one bearing/tensioner.
All marks lined up belt on turns by hand without any problems.
When I tension the belt and turn again one of the timing marks on the cam pully no longer line up. Engine turns by hand with no contact.
What I think happens is that when the tensioner takes up the slack in the belt it is "pulling" the belt and causing one of the cam pulleys to move say 5 - 10mm. How do I get the slack point in the belt to be positioned on the tensioner side between the crank and left cam pulley ? At the moment the slack appears to be between the crank and the right pulley ?
If that makes sense - although as it turns over without issue does it matter ?
Thanks
