Morning,

First cambelt and quite pleased with myself - however...

V6 engine, only 1 cam pulley on each head, crank pulley, one bearing and one bearing/tensioner.

All marks lined up belt on turns by hand without any problems.

When I tension the belt and turn again one of the timing marks on the cam pully no longer line up. Engine turns by hand with no contact.

What I think happens is that when the tensioner takes up the slack in the belt it is "pulling" the belt and causing one of the cam pulleys to move say 5 - 10mm. How do I get the slack point in the belt to be positioned on the tensioner side between the crank and left cam pulley ? At the moment the slack appears to be between the crank and the right pulley ?

If that makes sense - although as it turns over without issue does it matter ?

Thanks

If the belt is on and tensioner done up then try to turn the engine with the crank mounted pulley. If the marks don't line up, slacken off and move whichever pulley(s) need moving until correct.

Just to make sure you are turning the engine the correct way...
(fortunately for me Citroen flat 4 engines are non interference...)
