Does anyone have a set of the red plastic mallory advance keys for the YH type advance mech adjustment. they do not seem to be available anywhere i can find, not real steel, rimmers, summit, ebay... can't find them anywhere. if anyone has a spare set they can sell or lend me or that they could accurately measure for me so that with the measurements i could make up copies of use the closest drill bit, it it would be a huge help.
seem to range from 14 degrees up to 28 in 2 degree steps, they look like this;

A bit of Googling came up with a few bits & pieces which may help if you haven't already found them:

http://v8wizard.com/uploaded_files/Mallory-Dual-Po... This says the part number for the kit is Mallory 29014 & that comes up on a Google search, incl one in America on ebay. His listing says he may not ship to UK, but no harm in asking. Not cheap!: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mallory-29014-Advance-Curv...

http://www.btc-bci.com/~billben/mech-adv.htm gives using an allen key which is a start.

This gives some dimensions: http://www.speedsterowners.com/topic/mallory-yl-ad...
"David,
I have kit 29014 with is for YT/YH, the current adv. design.
14 deg of advance is 3.3 mm and 16 deg is 3.75mm, measured with digital calipers to +-0.02 precision.
Simon"

IIRC RPi Engineering were/are a distributor for Mallory products. Be worth asking them? http://www.v8engines.com/faq.htm This links to their partsrange ebay shop: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Partsrange/Engines-/_i.ht...

ETA This also gives more dimensions & you should be able to work out the difference between each key:

hi, thanks for that, i had already seen that post about the feeler gauges and allen keys, unfortunately they are for a different kind of mallory dizzy for vintage fords and while the principle is the same the slots and keys are different sizes and no use for my rv8/tvr dizzy. as for the ebay link, yes that is the right item but 60 busk for some plastic keys and then probably the same again for post from the us and taxes etc is more than i paid for the dizzy!!! hence asking eif anyone here had a set i could just measure ;-) rpi is a good idea, i will call them tomorrow, since they do setting up as well as just selling they must have a set at least for their own use that they could measure up for me! cheers

I've asked the question on LRO & I wonder if it would be worth you asking on LR specific forums such as Landyzone etc?

i just posted this on all the other rv8 relevant forums on here, tvr model by model, land rover, kit cars, etc and they were deleted for 'cross posting'! i didn't know that was an issue.

just notice the bit in your reply from 'simon' giving yh dimensions for 14 and 16 degrees, so with a difference of 0.45 mm between 2 degree steps i can try and work out the other stages i need up to about 24 degrees, i expect it is linear, so just keep adding 0.45mm per 2 degrees. cheers

yep, it works out and coresponds almost exactly with the figures given in that link, so adding 4.45mm per 2 degrees, means 20 degrees should be 4.65mm, so i set 4.65mm on my digital vernier calipers and then clicked the inch button and it comes out at 0.183" and the link you send gave 20 degrees, as 0,181". sorted, am happy with that, cheers.
