Something for novices and pros wink

Just in case you ever wondered what it looked like in there when the engine is running:

^^ That one's been around for a while now, note the valves spinning round and how ferocious it is when the mixture is drawn in. It's a shame part of the sequence is missing.

Personally i'd just go to 1.27 on that one. I think it's running extremely rich (maybe cold), if you get it on a computer screen you can see the fuel washing out all over, even splashing when the valve closes. I'm guessing they've done that so you can see the flame, if it was running properly or hot then it would be clear or blue and you wouldn't see it as well. In the other clip you can see yellow flame, but only near the edges, this will be where raw fuel has been trapped (around the valve and other crevices) and maybe the flame front is yellow too.
If you never knew what 'ignition advance' was you can see it clearly as the spark is activated before the piston is at the top, this is so it has time to get going before pushing the piston down.
Also if you thought the mixture exploded you can see how it doesn't, it burns and you can see how it spreads from the spark outwards. If it explodes you've got problems!

I seen the second video a few days ago myself, all cool stuff.

Although I'd say on a low speed motor like that, dodgy carburetor etc things would look a bit more messy than in a modern engine.

Plus he's also trying different fuels...to say the least lol

Must admit, I find the valvetrain stuff more interesting !
