K series

Hi Has anyone any info on fitting a lt55 rwd gearbox to a k series . I know type 9 have been done but as k is going into a Herald i would like to keep it Leyland / Rover Any advice would be gratefully received Nev

Nev, do you mean the LT77 Rover 'box? If so, I don't know whether it's been used or not, but I'd advise against it for a number of reasons. It's over specified for a Herald and is a fairly slow and obstructive bit of kit. Fine if you want a cheap solution that will put up with a V8, but not a nice box to use in my experience. The Type 9 is a well trodden path and works well, albeit they're getting a bit expensive now.

Hi many thanks for pointing out my error Yes i did mean LT77 as fitted to TR 7 etc . Some photos of spitfire would be a great help
