The problem I have found with these engines is all down to poor servicing and oil quality. They have no locater for the big end bearings on the con rods so rather than rattle when the bearings are worn they spin in place and all a rod to exit the block.my father has a 09 skoda superb from new almost 300k on it. It has been serviced religiously every 10k with low saps 5w30. Recently I replaced the rocker cover gasket for him and everything looked like new. No carbon build up in the egr valve and inlet manifold. A full service history and reasonable mileage and it should be OK
