Strange problem with the turbo in my 2006 ST2 Ford Focus. The odd time when I switch the car on the turbo does not kick in at all in any gear. The gauge never moves and as you know if the turbo was working you would feel it. Other times the turbo does kick in but when it does the car chugs and the turbo bounces up and down erratically. When sitting idle there is some movement in revs and on the turbo gauge without touching the accelerator. From what I have read on this I suspect the MAF Sensor or Solenoid valve. Has anyone seen this before?

Probably boost control solenoid but also check wastegate actuator, all pipework for splits as well as the symposer.

Boost control solenoid is a the common one and not expensive to try first before digging any deeper. MAF fault would bring up the eml.
