Surrey - Barcelona Route

Planning to drive the car from Surrey to Barcelona this coming this weekend, stopping overnight en-route.

Is anyone aware of any roads to turn the Google Maps slog into something more enjoyable without adding too much time? Most of the resources in the sticky focus on the Alps.
