Hi, I have an update. I had my car delivered from the garage 2 days a go with the same problem. Engine stop and don't start. I changed the coil pack yesterday and since then no problem at all. Engine start smoothly, runs very nice. I don't hear any noise or any sign of engine not working properly.
I did drived the car around ,not to far from my house, just in case... and all gone nicely.

Hi , a new update about my vauxhall astra j. After I have changed the coil pack ,I had no problem with the engine. Drived the car 70 miles in 3 days and I left the engine running as well for 2 hours every day. No problem at all. Today I wanted to drive the car and after 2 miles the engine management light came back. I looked for reasons why the engine management light comes on and 1 of the reasons is the fuel cap. I checked the cap and i noticed the rubber washer was all cracked. I removed the washer and screw back the cap without washer. Turned the engine on and the engine management light was gone. I'll replace the washer and I'll come back with updates.

Hi all, back with some updates. Drived the car 170 miles and the engine didn't cut out. The problem is fixed by changing the coil pack. I stil have the engine management light on. After change the rubber seal on the fuel cap nothing changed. Engine runs nice and smoothly.
I Will buy a code reader to check what fault comes up and I'll come back with updates.

Did anyone find a solution for this guys, got a 2011 astra J, coul pack and spark plugs were replaced 8 months or slightly longer ago, recently replaced a fudged maniverter as it was shot and a month later its now randomly just dieing, fuel pump appears to be running when i start the car, etc runs for a random distnace then just dies, cant see it being the fuel filter as its a lifetime part however when it dies it trys to start but wont actually catch, then when i get towed to my destination it generally starts again first time, think it may be the crank position sensor, ordering one online will come back if this fixes the issue

fuel filters are not lifetime parts.

And datalog what is happening, then you might see where any problem lies when it wants to shut off.

Coil pack connector is a common fault on these so changing the coil pack will make no difference

I’ve heard it’s a haul effect sensor inside the distributor some one said they replaced the distributor and problem has gone worth a look

Firstly it is a Hall effect sensor.

Secondly, i would VERY much doubt a 2011 car has a distributor.

You could always try to get it into a garage that is staffed competent mechanics rather than "parts cannon jockeys".
