Now thats a proper heat exchange for the chargecooler!!!!!
Looks really good.
I have seen so many threads where charge cooling dosent work well, but a lot of the cars have very small radiators & tiny pumps & pipework. I went down to PWR and sought their advice & they showed my a pre rad that they were selling for use on a 500BHP race car & it was only about 2/3 the size of the one i have. I had it made with the same core dimensions as the main rad, to ensure full air flow through both.Looks really good.
It still remains to be seen how good it is, but it should work well (I hope)
Cheers

a mk5 rs2000 lump will do that easy. uprate the cams uprate the pistons.mate to a 2.3 galaxy bottom end turbo charge it and re-map it.n add a good pipercross induction kit. job done
so other than changing the complete bottom end, the camshafts, the pistons, turbo charging it, remapping the ems, and totally changing the induction system it's easy.......... ;-)lee stacey27 said:

The RS2000 engine that was based on the Pinto twin cam' found in Sierras/Granadas and the Galaxy 2.3 engine based on the Mazda 626 are a straight swap? Unless you're suggesting using the stroker crank from the American 2.3 pinto and lowering compression by putting the pistons on a lathe and cutting a parabolic dome out of the tops and a full chat 286' cam' and a T3/4 hybrid turbo would just about make 250-300bhp-ish (depending on boost and fueling). The 150bhp n/a from the stock RS2000, remappable ecu, fuel/air inprovements and free flowing exhaust would give a headache and clean you bank account out for about 180bhp if you're lucky. Happy cam's and a full set up 190-ish bhp that's why the RS2000 engines get binned in favour of Zetec/Duratec conversions.Cudos for thinking outside the box though.

Did you not notice that the question was originally asked in 2006? Ideas were discussed, A decision made and now we are seeing the results of that plan.eliot said:

love it.... similar project to mine in that Im doing a single turbo conversion to my noble which is the Ford V6... the more I look the more similarity there is Your even suffering from the same issue I have, ie that the quality of the Tial V clamps is so much higher than the ones you can get for the exhaust lol

The Tial Stuff looks to be really good quality - & the Turbine housing well worth the Premium over the cast iron one. It needs to be on display!Your even suffering from the same issue I have, ie that the quality of the Tial V clamps is so much higher than the ones you can get for the exhaust lol

What power are you looking for from the Ford Engine - About the same?
Re the handling comment - yes it will be lively;) but my last stratos replica had 400-450 bhp, so you could say I am used to it.
Lets face it its going to be fun to drive ..... but its going to take 100% concentration/commitment to drive it on the limit

Sorry to burst the bubble... the Twin cam 'I4' DOHC has NOTHING in common with the pinto engine. It was all completely new design castings.....Cudos for thinking outside the box though.

They both have the exhaust on the same side
Ive got one in my kitcar and I worked on the other one for 3 years!!!

Yeh the Tial stuff is great, notice you have the water cooled wastegate as well, Im running dual wastegates but am unsure if im going to bother plumbing in the cooling to them as not sure its really needed? What power are you looking for from the Ford Engine - About the same?
perviously the car was 480bhp at 0.9bar which was low boost... Im planning on running upto 1.7bar, it revs to 7800rpm so should be fun

I haddent planned on a water cooled wastegate, I ordered a V44, but it has been superseeded by the water cooled MVR Waste Gate which I have. I will plumb in the cooling as the waste gate sits between the engine vent & my headder tank, so it is easy to do, but probebly not needed unless the car is raced.

How much casnh you got?
an LS7 would be perfect for this i reckon- light small and buckets of power all over the place.
you could get the same figures from a light pres. charged LS1 too- for that kind of power you are almost just bolt on and go for a supercharger- LS7 might work out cheaper though - an LS6 would possibly get you there with the right heads and cam although it might not be particularily driveable.
how much does a stratos weigh anyway? Gardner Douglas kit cars do a Lola T70 replica which weighs a pretty awe inspiring 800kg and takes an LSx quite happily- hmmm 625bhp/ton. That must be the sort of figure you will end up?

Could be very difficult to transpose to FWD,
