Who's making it ? looks like nice work.
Its been made by OJZ Engineering & yes he does great work. For me he is 5 miles down the road which is very handy. www.ojzengineering.co.uk

His work isnt cheap, but if you want quality you have to pay for it - my system is made from 321 stainless to cope with the heat & that adds to the cost over a normal exhaust.
He made my manifolds too, and I'll be getting him to make a system soon. I'd say his work is actually very good value.
Yes Definately value for money

He sure knows how to chuck a few pipes together !!!

Nice V-bands too. Are they part of the Tial kit, or does Lance sell them ?
The V-Bands come with the wastegate from Tial & I bought them with the turbine housing. They should make a much more reliable joint when compared with a bolted flange. The turbine housing was an option when i bought the turbo. Well worth the £150 extra for the housing and v-band clamps.

Why not 2 turbos and short headers, or have I missed something (I am posting just in after a couple of cheeky vimtos)

Excellent work, looks fntastic
2 turbos is harder to package, more expensive, and offers very very small performance advantage
Thats exactly my reason - Harder to package more expensive & no real advantage. I have done it before with twin turbos - and had trouble with the manifolds as they were really short which didnt allow for any expansion/movement + the turbos end up lower giving drain problems....

Hence 1 big turbo was the descision this time..

Lets face it, it will be more fun with 500bhp than 260 lol :P
I'll let you know! Eek.
My Last stratos had 400+ BHP from a 12V Alfa twin turbo & that was fun to drive - so this should be more funsmile)

As usual work has been getting in the way of things, so progress is slow - I have however got somewhere over the last few months.
The fule system - is just about finishes with low pressure pump feeding the swirl pot, injection pump, regulator & all the hoses done.

The Charge cooler has also been mounted, along with the swirl pot & pump and some of the pipework.
The Plenum has been fitted on the front head, but I now need more inlet runners to be fabricated. The plan is to take the car back to OJZ for the boost pipes & inlet runners.

Also the Charge cooler radiator is mounted to the main rad as shown.

Its not fitted to the car yet as I have been fitting new alloy panels at the front and re-painting the chassis.

I have also been working on some of the bodywork to add a radiator outlet duct instead of the more usual Louver panel & fitting the Group 4 lamp pods & roof vent.

Also the lathe and mill have been hard at work fabricating various parts.

Mounting plate for hydraulic release bearing....

An adapter to fit a 164 mechanical throttle body in place of the GTA's electric one.....

So some progress and I now realise I should post more regularly!

I am away at work again now, for a few weeks & when I get back the car will go for the boost pipes & inlet runners at OJZ & i will gat the Injection system & start with wiring the new dash etc. Then continue with the chassis painting & body Modifications.....

I am planning to use a Haltec ECU supplied by AET in wakefield as they are reasonably close to me for the mapping. Anyone have any experience of AET and or Haltec ECU's

Cheers

Now thats a proper heat exchange for the chargecooler!!!!!

Looks really good.
I have seen so many threads where charge cooling dosent work well, but a lot of the cars have very small radiators & tiny pumps & pipework. I went down to PWR and sought their advice & they showed my a pre rad that they were selling for use on a 500BHP race car & it was only about 2/3 the size of the one i have. I had it made with the same core dimensions as the main rad, to ensure full air flow through both.

It still remains to be seen how good it is, but it should work well (I hope)

Cheers

Along with the engine the brakes have been changed to match the engines power.

325mm Vented discs all round with Hi-Spec Billet 4 Calipers. The rears having a cable/Hydraulic Handbrake system.

Should be plenty of stopping power theresmile

love it.... similar project to mine in that Im doing a single turbo conversion to my noble which is the Ford V6... the more I look the more similarity there is smile

Your even suffering from the same issue I have, ie that the quality of the Tial V clamps is so much higher than the ones you can get for the exhaust lol

The Tial Stuff looks to be really good quality - & the Turbine housing well worth the Premium over the cast iron one. It needs to be on display!

What power are you looking for from the Ford Engine - About the same?

Re the handling comment - yes it will be lively;) but my last stratos replica had 400-450 bhp, so you could say I am used to it.

Lets face it its going to be fun to drive ..... but its going to take 100% concentration/commitment to drive it on the limitbiggrin

Yeh the Tial stuff is great, notice you have the water cooled wastegate as well, Im running dual wastegates but am unsure if im going to bother plumbing in the cooling to them as not sure its really needed?

perviously the car was 480bhp at 0.9bar which was low boost... Im planning on running upto 1.7bar, it revs to 7800rpm so should be fun smile
1.7 bar should see some serious power smile

I haddent planned on a water cooled wastegate, I ordered a V44, but it has been superseeded by the water cooled MVR Waste Gate which I have. I will plumb in the cooling as the waste gate sits between the engine vent & my headder tank, so it is easy to do, but probebly not needed unless the car is raced.

Not much major progress to report been home from work a while & on with the wiring & installing the new dash.

Also been doing some body work, fitting the radiator outlet duct ( I hate body work!)

Progress is slow, so my hope of having it finished this summer seem to have gone out of the window, the deadline will now ne next summerfrown

The flying lead kits they supply are quite good.

Although seems you've a bit of wiring still to do lol
The loom with the ECU was very good, no complaints. The rect of the car loom is now more or less sorted, just a few of the stack gauge looms to extend to reach the rear engine & to conect up the rear lights + the ECU to wire to the engine & then I can power up & see what works and what dosent....

cheers

The engine was decided on many moons ago, as previously posted.

As always its behind schedule though.

Wiring is nearly complete for car, ECU & Engine, hopefully it will be tested at the weekend, but then i will be away at work for a couple of months, so no more work on th car until summer.....

I'm Still away at work, so no progress other than a shiny new LSD arrived at home today.

I know Craig from Lister bell and he is making an excellect quality product - Gelcoat finish is something not heard of before for a Stratos. If I was buying one now it would be the STR.....

OK Time to do some more on the car.
The car is actually away at OJZ again, to have boost pipes & inlet runners fabricated + a couple of extra bosses welded into the exhaust.

So while the car is away I have started to work on the gearbox. I have a few used alfa 164 5 Speed boxes, but managed to source an unused one, so that is the one that I will be using. It will be fitted with the integrale strengtening plate and an LSD (plate type) from AHM.

Box is dismantled & the casing away with a mate for machining to allow the plate to be fitted.

Just been to OJZ to position the fittings on th eboost pipes. Below are the photos of the boost pipes tacked together - Superb pipe work from Lance, no gaps anywhere!

Its getting very full in the engine compartment now!
